I never saw a 4-3

I saw Vince on the line with Ackley/Richard and Dugan, and then Ian, SRL, Hursky, and Duke at linebacker.

If anything, thats a 2-5 with Vince out there.
You apparently weren't watching the same game as us.

It was a 4-3. We had the interior defensive linemen in 3-point stances, with the DE's (Duke and Redd) in 2-point stances on the outside. The outside backers (SRL, Childress) were stacked over the DE's with Hursky in the middle.

That's called a 4-3.
Ummm, no. I saw Vince down in a 3 and Duke up in a 2. Vince played end. That's what I saw. I tend to watch Vince on defense, but I could be wrong...

Vince was down a lot, probably 50-60% of the snaps.

Dominic takes Wynton's spot in the screen passes, get him in open-space game. Crawford takes the over the middle, possession game. Summers takes the deep game.

I thought it was worth mentioning that we picked up 9 votes in the AGS Poll and 23 in the FCS Coaches poll after this win.

3 point stance = 1 hand down
4 point stance = 2 hands down
Sorry, typo, meant a 3 point stance there.

It is, but I'm not too worried just yet. If anything, defense will be my main concern.

Luck??? How many catches does he have all season? Not saying we won't miss him, but to say he's a qb's favorite target??? Don't forget Bolden will be back, still have Crawford, and the younguns.

ONE of the QB's favorite targets. It's not that he has a lot of catches, but it's having him as an option this year that's been important. When he's thrown to, he makes the catch. Ask Medic about big tight ends. They may not get a lot of throws, but it's nice having one around you can count on.

I do realize now, however, that we're good to go in terms of receivers next season. SJ did more than an adequate job of filling me in.

I think we might be as good or better next year at tight end as well.

Oh, and for the record:

Against Tusculum: 0
Against Shippensburg: 1 for 7 yds.
Against William & Mary: 1 for 8 yrds.
Against Elon: 0
Against St. Francis: 0
Against Toledo: 0
Against Charleston Southern: 2 for 34 yds.
Against Presbyterian: 1 for 68 yds.
Against Coastal Carolina: 0
Against VMI: 1 for 15 yds.

So, six receptions for 132 yards.

Thank you. You made my point for me. 6 catches in a year cannot be considered one of a qb's favorite targets.

I'm with you Jon, so many people think we will not be good next year, but they have obviously payed NO attention to our depth chart. Stevev said something about us having holes at LB next year  Sure losing Vince hurts, but please. We have so many good young players there and add in Tipton, but we can have this discussion in the offseason.

I'm just saying that he's dependable, whether we throw a lot of passes to the TE or not. Perhaps "favorite" was a poor choice or words. "Important" would convey my point better.

Ok, I agree with you there. He has been "important" but we have 2 guys redshirting this year that I think can contribute as much as he did, and not to mention Corey Rasberry who redshirted this year as well.
