Al is an extremely gifted announcer with a Huge ego, and a overactive sense that we the viewer really care to hear his opinion. I just want to hear him call the game. The Fat man with the Athlete's foot cure is there to provide insight not you. I can't stand how he is such a homer for Indy and NE. This started WAY before Sunday night, but I wanted to reach into the TV and strangle him and his stupid "improbable victory" crap Sunday night. He acted like the Chargers (look I know the Offense played badly) were St. Mary's School for the blind, and the blessed Colts were the greatest football team that was ever assembled.
I just can't take him any longer. I wanted to hear one of them say Peyton was playing like junk, and all I got was the Chargers "D" was lucky, and Phillip stinks. Peyton is a Hall of Fame Legend you know! :frustrated
Abuse me, go ahead, but that's how I feel.

I, too, am tired of announcers who drink a certain teams kool-aid a bit too much.

Another Example= Brent Musbgerger with the Big 10 (especially Ohio State)

It ruins the listening experience. I would rather announce it myself than listen to them.

So knuckle, are you suggesting that if Peyton Manning suffered a career-ending injury this Sunday, he is not a Hall of Famer?

If so, my only response is..... :BS

And no I am not a Colts fan. I'm originally from Wisconsin and lived in Pittsburg for 8 years, so I was born a Packer fan and later adopted the Steelers.

I have no idea iof you even read my post. Peyton is a great QB and will be in the HOF, but he is not s god to put on a pedistal like Al does.

I like Al as well. Now mustyburger and costas, who the heck let those guys hold the torch for American sports broadcasters? Have they ever been listenable? Is that even a word?

Itd be interesting to see what would happen if these guys spoke to aspiring radio and/or tv broadcasters...I really don't want to turn into that kind of announcer myself.

Nobody comes close to annoying me as much as Joe Morgan during Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. He is absolutely horrible. A few others that get me: Tim McCarver, Dick Vitale and Billy Packer.

Al can get annoying but no one is as annoying as Vitale. I can't listen to his games anymore. I don't want any part of his schtick to rub off on me. Raftery is my favorite period. I actually like when Musburger makes you feel like the Buckeys are so great. I like the way he says buckeyes. I liek Brent and Herbstreet together. Brad Nessler is really good too. BJ if you ever were as good as Costas or anyone on here, you wouldn't care what us clowns on a message board had to say. I like Costas but I can see where he could get annoying to some folks. I'm surprised no one has an opinion on Madden. Madden and Summrall made thanksgiving days special back in the days of CBS and Fox. Troy Aikman is a really good color man too. Anyone I miss? Dennis Carter? 8)

I remember reading an article about Duke students and basketball a year or two back where they talked about the kids there listening to the games in surround sound. They'd figure out which of the 5 channels Dick V. was in and then turn them off so they just had the crowd noise channels. That pretty much sums up my opinion on him.

Thanks for that SCAR. Ive learned how to broadcast by watching and listening to all these broadcasters: Keith Jackson, Al Michaels, Marty Brennaman, Jack Buck, John Miller, Brent Musberger

I also learned when I got here to LU listening to guys like Jerry Edwards, GMTM, FSN, Numbah1 and I could go on. For me its been all about learning and listening and waiting for my chance.

at the risk of agreeing with BJ, I have to say that Keith Jackson is the man. Without a doubt.

I loved listening to Keith Jackson until the last few years before his retirement. He started to get pretty bad. I still remember watching a Rose Bowl that he was doing and the camera is showing the view from behind the QB as he walks upto the line and you see the center's rear end filling a good portion of the picture. KJ says, "boy that's a big butt". After a pause, he says, "I almost said that out loud". A startled Dan Fouts says "you did say that out loud!"

KJ is the tops! Aikman is great. Sorry, but I'd rather listen to Joe Morgan than McCarver any day.

During that last year I remember when they were going to commercial break they hadn't cut out yet and I heard him go "Do I have time to go to the bathroom?" Pat Summeral got just as bad late in his career.

Kind of along the same lines, Joe Nuxhall died yesterday...long time broadcaster of the Reds. Which leads me to this...Marty Brenneman does a fantastic job of play by play for the Reds. Really enjoyed listening to him and Joe.
