Two years ago, I had this section as a part of the preview, but I forgot to do it last year...but anyway, I will make my predictions on how the postseason awards will end up:

Player of the Year:
Reggie Williams, VMI - Yes, I predicted VMI to finish in the bottom half, and yes, I predicted AZ Reid to average a double-double. But Reggie will lead the nation again in scoring, possibly with over 30 a game, and the voters will feel obligated to honor him (and they won't feel bad for not picking Reid since he won it last year).

All-Conference First Team:
Reggie Williams, VMI
AZ Reid, HPU
Chris Gaynor, WU
Taj McCullough, WU
Anthony Smith, LU

All-Conference Second Team:
Alex McLean, LU
Micheal Jenkins, WU
Eugene Harris, HPU
Jack Leasure, CCU
Chris Moore, CSU

Freshman of the Year (keep in mind, only true freshmen are eligible for freshman honors in the Big South):
Tovi Bailey, CSU - Bailey will be the perfect compliment to Chris Moore in the CSU backup, and was a huge scorer in high school. He'll have a good chance to put up solid numbers as a freshman.

All-Freshman Team:
Tovi Bailey, CSU
Anthony Breeze, CCU
Christian Hunter, VMI
Charles Corbin, WU
Nick McFarlin, RU

Coach of the Year:
Randy Peele, WU - If Winthrop wins the league (as I am predicting) with only 6 returning players that have Div. I experience, then Peele deserves the honor.

Defensive Player of the Year:
Kenny George, UNCA - Voters have proven that they prefer stats (ie. steals or blocked shots) over actual defense when it comes to this award. If George stays healthy and is able to play more minutes than he did last year, he'll end up with a ridiculous amount of blocks. I'll assume for now that he'll be healthy (that's assuming alot though, I know).

Gotta say that the Holmes twins will be lookng for post season honors as well. Also there is no way Reggie will average 30 again this year. He won't have to. He is a terrific player and I like he and AZ a lot personally. I wish them both well. A Smith will challenge for POY honors too. KJ Garland is back at UNCA right? If he is, and he is healthy he is also going to be one of the better players in this league. Good stuff WEF! I appreciate your knowledge of the big south.
