I don't know why everyone hates Notre Dame, but I have never really had anything against them

My reason is just I saw the movie Rudy and a young age and have thought good things about ND....

Well, now I can see why some of you hate them....Its like Dook, no matter how bad they are, people always talk them into being one of the better teams in the country.....they are given every break in a game. Coach K cusses out refs and says some of the most vile things a person would ever say to another human being, and he is praised by Dickie V as being some earth saving humanitarian....

if its like that, eff ND and Dook!!!

people hate Notre dame because every year the media rides their jock strap thinking they are God's gift to football....and are constantly over rated...and constantly on tv because of their deal with nbc....it gets old after a while

EDIT....I love Rudy....great movie...

well, that is what I was getting at......I understand why people get a little ticked...

I deal with it all the time with Dook and their fans.....constantly overrated and always get the publicity...

Does anyone remember when Gonzaga was playing Uconn or possibly MSU in Maui of 2005. Espn were instead showing the Dook/Davidson game...and most missed the emergence of Adam Morrison.

So with all of that winning Duke has done in the ACC, and even over UNC for several years, does that mean the entire ACC and UNC are also overrated?

Over-rated in basketball? In some years, yes, but the ACC is traditionally one of the top basketball conferences in the country.

...I find it hilarious the same people that ran Willingham out on a rail are saying NOTHING about this year's 1-8 version of the Irish.

Why are we limiting the number to four? You said Duke is "constantly" overrated. "Constantly" not equal to 4 or any other number that I'm aware of.

My point is that you can't call Duke overrated unless you think the ACC is overrated, because that's where the bulk of their wins come from.

no they won't....Weis is a lifelong coordinator....i thought it was going to come back to bite Notre Dame in the butt for hiring him, and it is..he knows nothing about recruiting.....he deserves to be fired...there is no excuse for them to be this badly....and lose to navy! come on!

they should fire him...but they won't....

well....scorcho i will call you out on this....You are WRONG!!!!

Non-Con / Conference
2005-2006 / 2005-2006
15 / 16 (ACC conference tourney champs)

2004-2005 / 2004-2005
14 /14 (ACC conference champs)

2006-2007 / 2006-2007
14 /8

So overall wins is 43 wins out of conference
Conference wins is 38
Therefore, Scorcho is WRONG!!!
Take notice of the ACC championships, never once did they play UNC…..always managed to lose to Georgia Tech
Dooks wins do include St. Johns, Georgetown, Davidson, and Temple….wow!! Overrated indeed...constantly

what is it 6 sweet sixteens in a row....if you play kansas city community college and Florida A&M in the first two rounds, alot more teams could claim that record....OVERRATED

The sad thing about this entire debacle is that I bet Ty Willingham will probably get canned before Charlie Weis will.

Also, keep in mind that The Irish originally fired Willingham with hopes of hiring former ND assistant Urban Meyer to head up their program. Meyer turned them down and then went to Florida -- can't really argue nowadays that Ty Willingham is as good a coach as Urban Meyer!

Besides - didn't Weis sign a 10-year deal with Notre Dame? You'd have to imagine that the priests up in South Bend won't want to throw that money away.

Alright. You got me. The bulk of their wins (again, in some arbitrary timeframe you've assigned) were non-conference. By 5 games. So were those 38 ACC wins not quality wins? Are ACC wins not worthy of the seed it earned them in the tournament? Were all of those non-conference teams overrated too? What a grand conspiracy that would be.
jmdickens wrote:Take notice of the ACC championships, never once did they play UNC…
How is it relevant who they were playing? A tournament championship is still a championship. How is it Duke's fault that UNC couldn't make it to the championship game? You don't get to control who you play in a tourney, last time I checked. Oh wait. Yes you do. When you win the ACC regular season championship. Or was their ACC schedule overrated?
jmdickens wrote:Dooks wins do include St. Johns, Georgetown, Davidson, and Temple….wow!!
Um, yeah. I'm pretty sure we do have wins against those schools in a hundred years of basketball. What's your point? Are you talking about some specific time frame again?

I'm sorry that Doherty couldn't get it done for you guys for those few years, but Carolina has played their fair share of easy roads to the Sweet 16 (and beyond).

Once again a Carolina fan hears the word "Duke" and starts foaming at the mouth, completely missing the point. You can hate Duke all of you want, but if you say they're overrated based on the quality of their wins, you're talking smack about your own wins as well. We're in the same conference for (just under) half of our schedules. Either the ACC is quality, or it is not. You can't pick and choose how you feel about the ACC based on your anti-Duke bias.

I'm done with hijacking this thread. I don't think I can argue my point effectively anyway. I'll save you the trouble of replying, though. Christian Laettner was crybaby, Bobby Hurley was even worse than him, JJ Redick was gay, Coach K has a foul mouth and the Blue Devils get all of the calls.
