I remember Nicki's official visit to Liberty last year. She was so impressed with Kallie's setting ability. She smiled and said, "I can hit off that girl." Kallie is just phenomenal. She really makes it so much easier for our hitters to put up good numbers. She makes great decisions with the ball and sometimes has you scratching your head wondering how she made a perfect set while sliding sideways on the floor. She definitely deserves all the accolades she is getting.

ANd she is a real riot too. I was walking through the dining hall and she was some of the other volleyball players and they were having a blast. This really is a very close group of girls this year.

A “BIG CONGRATULATIONS” to Nicki!!! I’m so impressed with her total game – extraordinary passing, setting, digging, and hitting. If that isn’t enough, you talk with her and find out she is genuinely modest about her contributions to the team. Truly a great young woman!

That humbleness off the court is a trait of the team as a whole, and I think it is part of the volleyball culture at Liberty. It’s very appealing! Equally appealing is their confidence on the court. They play to win, and they have fun doing it!

Side Note: It was interesting to watch the team during pre-game warm-up drills this weekend. I saw the girls go through a transformation – they went from reserved and unassuming players to loud and confident winners. They dug everything coach Pinder could hit. They started talking, jumping, slapping, hitting, hugging and yelling with intensity rarely seen by volleyball teams. They turned into a band of sisters with a single-minded mission – winning. It was inspiring!

Go Liberty!!!

This is definitely the best chemistry I've seen the volleyball team have since I first got to Liberty. It makes them fun to watch. I just wish I was still in undergrad writing for the Champion again, b/c this is the type of team I woud love to cover.

It'll be interesting when the awards banquet comes around to see who gets Freshman and Player of the Year. I could very well be Nicki and Kallie with those honors.
