Does anyone know if the tuba player that looked drunk as he ran around the field was dotting the I in Liberty?

We heard rumors that's what it was, but weren't sure. I think it's cool if so.

Thoughts?

Yes he was dotting the i. I thought it was stupid. Why do we have to copy what other programs are doing?

when spirit of the mountain entered the stadium right before the team came out onto the field they spelled out "Liberty" and then had one of the tuba players run around and dot the "i". it defintely copies Ohio State, but i think it's okay. it's permissible to use things that other schools use as long as we add our own touch. i mean, how many schools use Tiger Rag every time they score?

i say it's a cool touch and only adds to the atmosphere and tradition around game day. i see nothing wrong with taking from other schools and adapting them to fit us.

good call dr. kerr.

I'm sorry but I disagree. It was stupid. Half the people in the stadium didn't have a clue what was going on, and those that did thought it was dumb. Plus, they keep changing what they did every week. They need to pick something and stick with it. If they keep changing it it will never become a tradition.

Oh. I see. I guess it was pretty hard for me to tell what they were doing in terms of position from the level my seat was at.

As I already said Saturday night in the Presby post mortem thread.
STOP IT!
The Game was pretty good, but I was thrown for a loop in the Pre-game stuff by the band.

Look I'm good with us ripping off stuff from big time colleges like the flame throwers, the first down, etc. But the dotting of the "I" by the tuba dude when they spelled Liberty (IN CURSIVE MIND YOU) was just silly.

JUST STOP!
Again I hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't we kill this thread since I mentioned it elsewhere?

Yeah, we should've been more original, like crossing the 't' or something.

Our stadium is not conducive to this. The only people who can truly see what the band has spelled out are on top of the press box. Our stands aren't tall enough to even know what they had spelled.

Even if I could have read the crazy cursive Liberty, it's still dumb!
Someone come up with something original please!
Go ahead and spell out the Liberty, and have one of the flamethrowers, DOT The I!!!!!
Now that would be COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alright, I love talking about what we should and shouldn't be doing, but really, who cares about this? Besides Knucklehead, who obviously does. We can't keep slamming on the band. They really seem to be trying to contribute to the atmosphere and all we ever do is complain about them.

Look, I have actually been nice to the band except maybe a small comment after the first game. They have improved greatly since then, and actually did pretty good this week. I just really didn't like this. You can copy a lot of things, but not a tradition that old and famous.

BAND: has been great this year. overlook the gaffe with the shirts (which was corrected - regardless of how it was done) and they've done great. they are growing in number and absolutely vital to a strong home field advantage.

TRADITION: it's absolutely stupid to put parameters on what we can and can't use in regards to other schools. it may not be our first choice, but what a great idea. i like the fact that we're trying new things in order to enhance the atmosphere, but i think it's sad that every time we try something new this board erupts and starts complaining. it's never going to be good enough for some of you, which should just be expected.

i say hats off to our band and our AD for doing their best to make Liberty Football a memorable and fun experience!

I don't like the script Liberty. Maybe doing an LU would be better. I love the idea of spelling things out, and if they spelled Liberty out, great, I just don't like the dancing tuba player to dot the i.

yeah i agree with you jon, and there is room to improve ALWAYS, but i don't think we should criticize at every turn.

i'd like to see us spell out each letter individually with the fans calling out the letter as it was formed.

Isn't a message board a place to air opinions? Or do we all have to agree with some set LU appointed person in order to post? This si the strangest board at times.
It's nothing personal, I just think that you can't steal something that Old and famous.

yes, the purpose is to voice opinions, but i've always been of the persuasion that you don't criticize unless you have a solution.

we can always do better, no doubt, but let's be positive in our posts.

For the record I did give a suggestion! We have to make it different. As Dr. Falwell used to say If it's Christian, it should be better.

If all posts on here were positive there would be little to none activity. That's what makes message boards thrive.
