It was great to be back in the 'burg today! The guys looked really good- like a championship team :) The defense looked a lot better than the last game I saw. Also, Brock did really well today. There were a couple of drops by the receivers and a few passes that were overthrown a bit, but that's to be expected. Brock showed a lot of confidence out there today and I also liked the fact that the coaches showed their confidence in him as well by giving him back to back pass opportunities. I really like what I saw from the flames today and I can't wait until next week!

In the words of Chris lang " Flames raise pimp hand against HOES" - lang doesn't even know who i am haha, but had to give him credit for that one....

Overall great performance. I had some buddies who hadn't been back to campus in a few years in town....first thing than said to me " who is that #4 kid, he is a freak....how did we ever land a guy like that" Alumni i think would be impressed and proud today at the beat down we showed. Lots of fun today, got to meet the famous SLY as well.

The score definitely does not reflect PC's level of play. They put forth a great effort during which they racked up quite a few yards on a defense that still hasn't quite learned not to leave men completely open on a pass play. (!) They even had more first downs than we did. Vince Redd had a heckuva game, though. He was everywhere. Other than those few wide open passes, however, they showed up much like in the last game. It's good to see some D out of our team finally.

Forget the D, though. Our offense was MONEY today. Everything was clicking. I was worried after PC stopped us in the red zone twice in the 1st, but they got it together quickly. They looked very good today.

The crowd was a bit of a letdown, but it was almost certainly because of the weather early this morning. Too bad for the losers who didn't show, though. They missed a great time.

Gotta go get my folks fed and then we're off to the Vines for the volleyball game. I'll check in again later.

Amazing game.

Brock, I'm sorry for saying bad things about you. I totally ignored all the good things.

Rashad, I love you. You are freakin amazing.

Vince, Don't eat me.

Amazing game.

Here's what I wrote on the PC board:
A couple things from the game thread then I'll get to my thoughts:

QUOTE
anyone else want to comment on the pooch and squib kicks we are doing.. i am not a big fan.. granted liberty does have speedy returners.. but still you have to get the ball down the field better

You're punter wasn't happy with that. We saw him on the sidelines saying, "Why are we doing that" after the touchdown.

QUOTE
so much for the 20K or even 17K. attendance was 15K.. still big looks like a good atmosphere

The attendance was disappointed. We had 15,300-ish, which is second in school history, but expected more. The weather probably kept them away. The crowd also wasn't nearly as lively as in other games. I think it had to do with the fact that it wasn't close and it was a day game. We have fun, but it was a relatively boring game.

QUOTE
classy move Coach Rocco.....throwing deep with 2 minutes left ahead 41-14....thats like Coach Lamb of Furman calling a TO with a few seconds left to score a TD...

If you listen to Coach Rocco in his post-game press conference, he says that they had all intentions of running the ball and running the clock out in the fourth quarter. However, Byrnes Bentley called a timeout before third down, so we said screw it and threw the ball up. We threw it to the tight end for his only catch of the game.

Now, for other stuff:

You guys are going to be good. If Bentley can recruit, you'll be good. You've got the talent now. You'll probably beat Chuck South by 15-20 points.

Your QB seems to be ok. He left the game with a neck brace on but he was walking so I don't think it's that bad. His mom came running out of the stands and went down on the field when he got hurt.

We had a ton of penalties. One of the unsportsmanlike ones I didn't necessarily agree with (the one on Lloyd). Worrell was tripped up, then got up and started running again and SRL pushed him down. It was after the initial down, so I can understand the penalty, but I can see where SRL thought he was never down, etc.

I'm not a fan of your coach, at all, but I like your players. I really do. Most teams we play, had they went up against the prank that we pulled in the stands, would've been talking crap, flipping us off, etc. Yours didn't do that. They just laughed and went on playing football. I'm a big Larry Thomas fan now after seeing that he can take a joke, laugh it off, and appreciate it for kids being kids. Grayson and Worrell also were good sports about everything (Mullins played great by the way).

We got you guys in Clinton next year. I hope to see ya there.

(Oh, by the way, you guys had a decent crowd there. About 30 minutes before the game you have 7-8 rows completely filled. I don't know how many more came, but there was a decent PC crowd, better than anyone else we've played this year)
The prank went great. I'm about to watch the video of it and hope to have it edited by Monday. Anyone know how to get video off a Comcast DVR to the computer?

Brock played absolutely amazing. 19-25 for 298 and 3 TD's.

Rashad was awesome.

Defense gave up big plays in two drives but overall was just as good as last week.

Officiated was ehh a few times, but that was both ways. Welcome to the Big South.

Other than that, I don't have much off the top of my head.

I think that PC's passing attack would give anyone fits. Great game. Our offense was hitting on all cylinders. The defense gave up a lot of passing yards but made some key stops in the red zone which took them out of the game and it was all LU after that. You know when things are going your way when Chris Luck goes 70 yards for a score. Our penalty count was rather high. Need to work on that.

I don't have a whole lot to add that hasn't already been said..except if PC keeps building on what they have now, they will be a solid team down the road...they have no defense really, but their offense is nothing to be ashamed of.

I was disappointed with the crowd, but then I started thinking about the 4,000 we use to get for games and kind of forgot about it...20,000 would've been amazing, but it was just not meant to be...

had fun though..my wife had the day off and was able to come to the game with me and though she is not a huge football fan she actually had fun...

all and all I am happy with how the team played...there is no excuse for us to lose another game...I am not saying we won't...but if we do it will be inexcusable with the teams that are left on our schedule

Is Presby's 1st string QB okay?

I think he's ok. He was walking to the ambulance in a neck brace, and everything I've heard said the hospital trip was strictly precautionary.

I'm convinced ours guys are hard-rock-solid from all their work outs in the weight room. There were at least four guys from PC injured today - CSU even thought so - please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not going to sweat the guys for giving up that kind of pass yardage. Anybody who throws it 55 times is going to get some serious yardage. The stat I'm happiest with is that PC was 0-5 on the 'cajone' (4th) down. That's reason for some pride right there.

Actually, there was an entire section (the one closest to the FOC) that was very sparse. I was pretty disappointed. But obviously that would have only added 750-1000 more attendants which means we would still have been 4k alumni/townies short of the magic 20,000.

That was supposed to be the PC section but they sat up top.

As for Webb, just watched part of the broadcast. He got hit, laid on his back, and then another hit came in that bent his neck forward. You can almost see where it broke. Nothing dirty, just an unfortunate hit.

Dang it, my guide said the LU game was coming on tape delay at 2pm so that's when I started the DVR. The game actually started at 1 on tv and I missed the first quarter andn a half.

You mean just because people were so quiet?

Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I was glad they were there. I wish there had been more, but as thepostman said, I can forgive it when reflecting back two seasons ago. It will get better. As long as people show up and the team wins...it will get better.

Now, having said that, the folks in the Vines center for the volleyball game tonight put the football crowd to shame.
