Mr. Huckabee attributes his support to the fact he is a "hardworking, consistent conservative with some authenticity about those convictions." I have known and liked him for years; on the stump he often tells the story of how we first met outside his boarded-up office in the state Capitol, which had been sealed by Arkansas Democrats who refused to accept he had won an upset election for lieutenant governor in 1993. But I also know he is not the "consistent conservative" he now claims to be.

Nor am I alone. Betsy Hagan, Arkansas director of the conservative Eagle Forum and a key backer of his early runs for office, was once "his No. 1 fan." She was bitterly disappointed with his record. "He was pro-life and pro-gun, but otherwise a liberal," she says. "Just like Bill Clinton he will charm you, but don't be surprised if he takes a completely different turn in office."

Phyllis Schlafly, president of the national Eagle Forum, is even more blunt. "He destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party a shambles," she says. "Yet some of the same evangelicals who sold us on George W. Bush as a 'compassionate conservative' are now trying to sell us on Mike Huckabee."

Its funny i just got done reading this article.......i only noticed it on drudge because a friend just sent me a chain e-mail from huckabee as he is trying to raise 1 million dollars this month.....this article will not help his cause in my opinion.

Youknow Dr. Falwell had him speak at TRBC. He must have thought more of them what you are accusing him of.

I'm supporting Huckabee right now, and that article does raise some good questions when it comes to spending. I've been watching the debates and Huckabee does really well but I guess I'll need to look closer at his fiscal values.
In defense of Huckabee, he did spend money while Gov. of Arkansas. His reasoning is that it was much needed. Roads, Transportation and education were all disasters. Further, Huckabee was workign with a Democrat controlled state. Even if he had wanted to alleviate spending it would have been difficult.

So I guess you can still chalk me up as undecided. I guess its between Huckabee and Romney for me. Ideally, Duncan Hunter, would be my man, but he is really out of the running. I wish Ann Coulter had plugged him sooner it might of helped his campaign.

That's pretty much exactly what one of Bush's former advisors said about Huckabee, his name alone makes him un-electable.

The mental image I get, and sorry to change the subject is, Coach Roy Williams. He looks just like Huckelberry Hound.

Everytime you see Huckabee, he just screams snake. It's like he's trying to hide something.

Hey, hey now. I didn't accuse him of anything. I just posted an editorial written by people from the Republican Party in his home state. They're doing the accusing here. I did say I think he's a snake, but that's just a thought, not an accusation. I mean, he's obviously a human being.

Lots of conflicting info. Hrm. I'm still not convinced.

Doesn't matter. He's not getting the nomination.

I'd say most likely he's not getting the nomination, but I wouldn't rule him out. He could conceivable finish second in Iowa which would give him even more momentum. From there I've heard he should skip New Hamphshire (no chance there) and focus on SC. I think he has a realistic chance in South Carolina. After that who knows. If he can finish second in IOWA that will really get the campaign going.

I still think its too early .
