here was my listening lineup on the way in to work this AM:

Clutch: 10001110101

Five Finger Death Punch: The Bleeding (quite possibly the best new song I've heard in years)

Trapt: Stand Up

Ratt: Nobody Rides For Free

G-n-R: Sweet Child of Mine (had to have some old school stuff) and thanks to ADAM for pointing out the error

***

now- you guys tell me what new stuff I'd like.

thanks

I remember they were here a little over two years ago too, unless we're remembering the same show. I didn't make it.

FYI, Sweet Child of Mine was Guns N' Roses not Motle Crue. For me, I've been listening to the new Foo Fighters (Echoes Silence Patience and Grace) which is pretty good. I downloaded In Rainbows by Radiohead and it was ok. I have never been able to get fully into them however. I respect the talent, it just doesn't click for me. I hear that the new Springsteen is great. Haven't checked it out yet but will soon. I'm also hearing that Neil Young's Chrome Dreams II is supposed to be very solid.

Come on, Medic. You just need to have a little patience while building up an appetite for a destruction of a cheesesteak at lunch.

Anyone having a hard time getting into radiohead, check out Muse. They're the better, heavier, much more talented version of radiohead, although the lyrics are a bit accentric. and their website is awesome, you can listen to every full song and album they've ever put out.

Muse > Radiohead

Yes.

There isn't a thing about Radiohead that Muse doesn't do better.

Agreed to a point. I don't really consider the two bands to be in the same ballpark. I'm not suggesting that Muse wasn't influenced by Radiohead (that's almost certainly true), but I think people tend to lump bands like Muse, Coldplay, Keane, Travis and other bands with Radiohead because their lead singer sort of sounds similar to Thom Yorke.

But yes, Muse is much better than Radiohead. Still, this is coming from a guy who thinks Radiohead generally sucks.

One can line up tracks from each band that are similar...

Myxamatosis (Judge, Jury, and Executioner) is a slower, lamer version of Hysteria, for one example.

And I don't think the lead singers sound alike, other than them both being from the UK...

Well, I personally think the Muse guy sounds more like Jeff Buckley than Thom Yorke, but it seems anyone who sounds like Jeff Buckley is automatically compared to Radiohead. It's like the transitive theory of music comparisons.

I can only hear 30 seconds of it and it isn't bad. I'm kinda iffy on it.

That's fine. I am really excited after hearing the song. (Brand New, that is.) Have you heard it yet?

The Say Anything one isn't bad so far. It's nothing spectacular, but it's not horrible. At times it seems like Max is trying too hard to be different. That's what happens when you're a psychotic genius though.

I dunno man, I think in some respects it's better. It isn't as raw and simple, but it is just as creative.

It's gotten better as the cd goes on. I guess when you do 26 songs, a few parts are bound to not be great.

I would like to add to this thread that my 3 volume set of Queen has arrived via ebay. Volume III looks pretty weak though.
