SLY will no doubt add the pertinent info: suffice to say this is not one of the stronger teams in the FBS, however- we have not been playing well against stronger caliber teams.

Toledo comes in off a tough loss to W. Michigan in which the offense went thru 3 QB's and the defense gave up 42 points

I'd say the highlight of their season so far would be the come-from-behind win vs Iowa State.

They are doubtless looking to get healthy on a FCS team, and Coach will have to have our guys playing to the absolute best of their abilities this week to have a shot.

Remember back in 1989. We knocked off Eastern Michigan (At the time an undefeated team up until that point and had votes in the top 20) which is in the same conference as Toledo with Eric Green and Robbie Justino hooking up for the game winner. I don't think that Toledo is as good as that E Michigan team unless someone can convince me that the MAC conference is better now than it was back then. I personally don't think that it is but I guess the real question is are we better now than the 1989 LU team. Probably not but that is debateable. I don't think that Brock Smith is a Robbie Justino and Chris Luck is certainly no Eric Green. I would like to think that we have a chance at a win against Toledo and not just to see if we can "give them a good game" mentallity.

I think we have a really good chance at Toledo next week. I've been reading through the Rocket's forum and it seems that they've been having problems with their defense not being aggressive enough. Also, the fact that they had to unexpectedly put their true freshman in at QB last week will probably throw a slight wrench in their offense until he gets acclimated with the speed of the game, since it doesn't appear that the other two QB's will be ready to play on Saturday. Hopefully we will go into the game ready to play and come out with the WIN.

I think if the DEFENSE steps up we have a chance against Toledo.. I think that they are the key, cannot let the rockets score a ton of points early on and put us behind, we need to go in with a heavy tail wind from this last game, if the guys think they can win, then they just might do it.. Everyone around campus keep encouraging the boys, I think that is some of the best medicine around.. And I also want to add, that Brock commented to me that the support all of you guys give the team is the greatest feeling ever, I really could see it this week, it just seemed like the team was playing for the fans.. Liberty Flames Look To Light Up the Glass Bowl – My View
This is not your father’s Liberty.

Toledoans know that the Jeep Liberty's styling goes back to the original off-road Jeep Willys via its trademark vertical Jeep grille and round headlamps. They also know that it’s completely different from its predecessor, the Cherokee.

Likewise the Liberty University Flames are nothing like the Flames of old.

For openers, LU is picked to win the Big South Conference championship for the first time in its six years in the league.

It all starts with the LU second year head coach Danny Rocco. Rocco learned football from working with some of football’s best coaches. He played under Joe Paterno at Penn State, worked with John Mackovic at Texas and Bill McCartney at Colorado. He spent three seasons with Tom Coughlin at Boston College and nine years with Virginia head coach Al Groh. Both Groh and Coughlin worked with Bill Parcells, which further explains how Rocco formed some of his coaching practices.

The 3-2 Flames (arguably just inches away against William & Mary from being 4-1) have stepped up their level of players and play under Rocco.For those not familiar with the geography of Virginia, Lynchburg, the home of LU, is equidistance between Blacksburg and Charlottesville. This has severed Rocco well with transfers from both UVA and Virginia Tech. Recruiting further south, Rocco has 26 players (16 FR and SO) on his roster from Florida, one of the top states for football talent. Similar to the Rockets, the Flames three units have excelled at various times but overall lacked consistently. They also have some injuries to key players.
