Only negative...

They did throw a few passes down the middle successfully. But not consistently, it was only a couple times, and once with with tons of subs in.

That the weakness we need to buckle down and fix.

or just put in Chris Rocco! :-)

We all follow his lead on most things anyways. Its safe to say he is a leader of sorts.

Brock was evidently consistent- apart from what was reportedly a horribly thrown pick- wasn't there, didn't see it.
Wasn't bad at all. It was thrown a little behind Wynton. Wynton caught it and the LB/DB came in and just grabbed it from him as he was tucking it.
Sounds like a great showing from our team. You know the game is out of hand when Champ is getting carries.
Champ's not even on the team.

Let me get off the toilet and I'll give the rest of my thoughts.

Alright, I'm good now.

Crowd was much better than I expected. However, tailgating was pathetic.

Brock looked absolutely amazing tonight. I don't care what the stat line says (I haven't even looked) but he went through his progressions, had a presence of the pocket, and on all but one throw hit his receivers in their chests where he was supposed to. Whatever he did today, make sure he does it again next week.

Coach Rocco came and saluted the students before the game as usual. It's something that is very small but means a lot to us.

Someone said that I was chanting to go for it in the fourth quarter - I was not. I did get some face time during the game though.

LCA could've beaten St. Francis.

One thing I will complain about is the massive amount of people (I'm mainly complaining about students) who left so early. You call yourselves fans and say you're loyal and you're gone by halftime or the 3rd quarter. I don't care what the score is, you've still got classmates on the field busting their busts for you. Those younger guys (Terry Williams, Terron Lawrence, Spencer Landis, Danny Broggin) deserve to have you there to cheer them on so that when they're starting in a few years you don't say, "Who is that?" Don't care yourself a fan or loyal if you don't even stay the entire game, or even 3/4 at that. To the guys that stayed the entire time (Schfourteenteen, ToTheLeft, and everyone else who reads that doesn't post): thank you guys. You stayed there and supported the backups just as much as the starters. Why get to a game an hour (or more in some cases) to get a seat if you're not going to stay the entire time to use it. That's a frickin joke. The kids that stayed were awesome, and when the team came over at the end of the game to sing the fight song and run through the stands, you know they appreciated us. We won't be "great" until our fans/students start acting like it.

I agree. Plus, there is no better feeling in the world than the players high-fiving you and singing the fight song with you after a victory. Is amazing. I can't wait til the Presby Game.

I told you we have fun. I've told everyone I know that says they're not a Liberty football fan to come to a game with me and try not to have fun. You can't do it. I'd even invite any of the alum on this board to spend a game, or even a quarter, with us. You can't do it and not have fun.

great win, and great way to beat a team exactly how we should...I am very proud of them...I couldn't believe the size of the crowd...it was great...

PS...so you don't hate me SJ, I have had to leave early for all 3 games at 9:30 since I do a show at 10....and it kills me everytime....it annoys the crap out of me as well, so I know exactly where you are coming from...

no matter the score of the next 3 home games, I am staying the entire time....I am so excited about that

Oh, I know there are exceptions to everything. I just see no reason for leaving except:

a) work
b) you're literally sick
c) you have a little kid with you

I completely agree with you SJ....also, we were 8 points away from tying the record for most points scored in a game by Liberty....my brother and I were hoping to break it once we went up 28-0 in the first

Once we got 68 I was really hoping we'd drive and get a field goal to make it 71. It'd only be fitting for our school to have 71 points.

didn't even think about that....that would've been cool as well

It would be even more fitting for homecoming....lets do it!!

This was be a good tuneup for the Toledo game next week provided the injuries for Terrell and Cheek arn't that serious. I kind of expected this and surprised that we didn't put up these kinds of numbers in the first 2 games but time to move on to better things next week. A win over Toledo would go a long way in establishing LU as an improved and competitive program. Very surprised by the crowd. I guess Coach Rocco or someone is doing a good job in promoting this whole program despite the disappointments of the last 2 weeks. Nice to see some of the subs doing well such as Bannon and Terry Adams and Williams. They need this experience to help them down the road.

1. Hats off to the Liberty University community. Things are definitely changing. For us to be 2-2 and coming home after a away-game blowout the number of people in attendance was incredible. Say what you will about it being Parent's Weekend or whatever, but 13,800 is legit. The third largest turn-out in LU history. I have no doubt that Homecoming v. the Hose will set the all-time record. I am guessing 17+. I watched the first half on FTN, and was impressed by both the size and sound of the crowd. We're turning the corner, and it's an exciting time to be a Flame!

2. The offense looked so much better tonight. Again, we all agree that St. Francis isn't the best of challengers, but this is exactly what we needed. Confidence is building and great strides are being made. I called last week that all three of the big recievers - Turner, Jackson, and Bolden would score, and that there would be 3 rushing TD's as well. Only BT didn't score. Brock will continue to get better. Hats off the the coaching staff for expanding the playbook and opening things up a bit. To be successful at Toledo we'll have to do the same exact thing.

3. The defense looked pumped! I am a huge Florida State fan, I bleed garnet and gold (and sometimes red and navy blue) and that, coupled with a few other things is why I decided to watch the first half at home. As I flipped back and forth from the FSU/UA game to the LU game one thing really caught my attention. The Noles had a sense of urgency on defense last night. They looked like the great Seminole defensive units of old. Pressure on the QB, stopping the run, keeping everything in front of you. The cool thing was, I saw this not only from my Noles, but from LU as well. If we can be a team that pressures the QB and stops the running game, we have the potential to win the rest, yes the REST of our games. The defense is the key to success this season!

4. Food for thought. Last year we drove down to Wake and played a fairly tight game. Final score was 34-14. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was like 17-7 at the half. Wake Forest ended up routing my Noles at Doak, 30-0, and then beating GT in the ACC championship game. I would contend that Wake is a better team then Toledo and that the team we are bringing to the Glass Bowl is better then the team we took down to Wake. I know we shouldn't expect to win this one simply because we beat up on St. Francis, but if we can score early, and the D plays well, check ESPN.com often...we might have a lot to write about.

5. SJ - sorry to leave you guys out there alone for tailgating. We played in the IMS softball tourney from 8:15AM-4:30PM. We were waisted. Plus, we just lost in the semis, so we were ticked too. Either way I haven't got to see the Noles in two weeks, and wanted to see how they stacked up against the Tide. We'll be out in full force for homecoming. My parents are bringing up a huge tour bus with a bunch of friends from back home, so we'll have a huge tailgate going on. Same spot as usual. We're also going to be trying to raise a little money for LU lacrosse that day, so maybe you guys can help us pick out the rich alumni who can throw us some bones.

6. I love the idea of the L-U chant being the precursor to the team coming out on the field. I think it should be quiet though (PA wise) and that the cheerleaders should, well, cheer -lead. Put half on the baptist side with L's and the other half on the student side with U's. As soon as the team hits the field the band can do their thing, but until then, they should be yelling too. Dr. Kerr should come up with some creative way to get them involved in the LU cheer as well. Let's say 17K do show up, and we can make this happen. Holy crap that would be sick.

Great week of football. This weekend reminded us all, unless you are a Florida fan, Penn State fan, Clemson fan, Alabama fan, West Virginia fan, Oklahoma fan, or Texas fan why college football is so great! Looking forward to an exciting rest of the season - Go Flames!

I am very excited about the revealing of the I formation with Rashad at fullback and Zach at tail. Hats off to Coach Rocco and Rashad for his putting the team first. Gutting someone up the middle while having the potential to attack the perimeter really stresses a defense.

I really like the execution throughout the depth of this team last night. The ones played hard and took care of business, but the 2's were efficient and passionate as well.

Not all of you could see this, but the flame shooting up when we scored on the mountain logo, while the moon was rising behind it was one of the coolest sights in college football. What level of choreography did that take to pull off? Told SJ that he needs to photoshop that on the Lunatics, if no one got a picture of it.

At last count, 35 Ohio Flame Fans to Toledo game.....

a) work

c) you have a little kid with you
d) you have a wife who starts whining in the first quarter to leave because she's cold and the game isn't close at all.

P.S. We stayed until the 4th quarter, I hated leaving, but you got to keep the misses happy! By the way, what's the deal with the concession stands running out of popcorn, and not having hot cocoa! That would have bought me more time to stay and watch!

Rashad and Zach lined up in the I against william & mary. It was cool to see the flame go off by the monogram. I'm sure there will be some comments to the paper about that one!

maybe thats what Edwards and Rut were referring to when they said "we're using our entire year's worth of gas in one game"

That would be me. you could hear the chants over the audio feed- I naturally assumed it was you running your big mouth

also- the radio crew described the end of the 3rd quarter as a "fire drill" type exit of students  I understand, but...

Amusing point:

The NEC has lobbied for an auto-bid to the I-AA playoffs and has, apparently, gotten it. The NCAA Competition Committee voted last week to expand the playoffs to 18 teams in '08, with likely future expansion in mind. Now, until this weekend, the NEC and Big South had never met on the football field. Between LU-St Francis and VMI-Robert Morris, the Big South buried the NEC 108-23. More amusing in a "hmmm" way, not so much "haha". Unless you're into that sort of thing, of course.
