you think he's tough now? Try playing for him during middle school...imagine this x 200 when he was just a 20 something kid! He had us throwing up! FOR BASEBALL! I'm glad he's mellowed out some....for the girls sake
B/c of everything he did for me then and truly changed my life and from that a relationship that will last forever and he is one of my best friends today and you'll see a lot of girls walk away from this program thinking the same thing.
I think this is important for fans of all sports at LU to learn from this though...loses can come from a variety of things such as injuries, late start on recruiting and other things...not just coaching...and guess what...these wins arent a result of just coaching either...its a mix between recruiting, talent, coaching and character. The loses last year were not what anyone wanted...but if you looked at the reasons you could see how they happened, and also see the future looked good.
I hope someone from the Champion sits down with Chelaine and ask's her to tell them the story on how she came to Liberty from Auburn...God worked in that transfer from the time she made her mind up she wanted a Christian school and made a list and contacted them all. She pretty much said the first school that returns her call will be the school God wants her at. It was Liberty just 30 minutes before another school called. She didnt even need to visit to know this was for her.
Thats the short version and just a glimpse into MANY stories this team has. I'm glad I happened to follow SP and his program b/c I have I've seen one of the best teams to represent LU, what JF has strived for and a great example of Christ on and off the court.
No matter what happens from here, the program's headed in the right direction and that's all that matters not the Wins and Loses (although I know thats what most judge by) there is much more to a team than that....those loses do not define these girls and neither do the wins
