HAHAHAHAHAH

With Brock in we just need him to manage the game, give the ball to ZT and Jennings, make a few passes count, and not make the big mistakes. Thats all. He doesnt have to be Peyton Manning, he just needs to sustain drives and not lose the game (Yeah a game is won/lost by a team but tell me Rex Grossman isnt a pain in the butt for the Bears).

By best practice.... does that mean Brock went psycho on our defense or that our pass D stepped up? Because neither sounds good to me

The starting defense doesn't go against the starting offense very much at practice.

I wonder why that is?? Wouldn't you want your best offense against your best defense so that you can get a good gauge of where you are? Is this how most teams usually practice?

The ones go against each other a little bit each practice but it would be counter-productive for them to go against each other the entire practice. That's what scout teams are for. The scout team runs the plays of the team that we're going to see each week. Our first team offense goes against the scout team defense who is running the plays that St. Francis would be running. Our first team defense goes against the scout team offense who is running the plays that St. Francis would be running. It wouldn't make sense to practice against ourselves since that's not who we're playing on Saturday.

Thanks SJ. Makes a lot more sense when you explain it that way :D

I watched via the towercam. The incompletions looked really close from that angle.

Chris asked Coach about the QB position in the press conference today. Coach responded by saying he's not going to make a change but he's going to continue to develop Spencer, especially because Brock has left the game with a stinger twice this year. He said both players would play early in the game and it's important to develop Spencer in case Brock goes down. Coach spoke with Brock on Monday and challenged Brock to change his pregame routine and encouraged him to be around Coach Streeter and the receivers more pregame, warming up earlier, etc. He said the question about Brock was a valid question, but he wasn't making a change.

What's he doing playing darts with the DB's? (Boy if Kent Hicks gets mad watch out)

Seriously though I am not sure what that exactly means, and maybe Im not supposed to and maybe I look too much into that but Brock being challenged about his work ethic/routine is a bad sign. Not to say OMG Brock is not with his WR's all the time, but we cant have our team leader and offensive commander not taking this seriously. Again I probably misread that post but that worries me

They never challenged him on his work ethic, just his pregame routine. Coach explained it in the press conference, and I'll try my best to give a summary. Brock tends to stay by himself during warmups. Some players are like that. He also treats warming up as just that. Coach said he wants Brock to have more interaction with Coach Streeter and the WRs and to warm up with a higher intensity.

Of course I am glad we are sticking with Brock, he is really trying, and I know we need to win, I think coaching really has to step up, I know I have said it before but I think we were severely out coached, so when you add everything up well then we have a loss. By the way I guess it is good I missed the personal attack on Brock, thanks guys for deleting it, remember this is a little boy that I have helped raise, and to me he will always be my little nephew.. I appreciate what kind people, and what a great team of fans liberty is blessed to have, I am just hoping things are looking up. I can honestly say we family wise have had a really tough health issue year, I mean really tough, and I just was hoping we could catch a break with Brock and the team having a wonderful season, but not yet, so pray that we can all catch a break, it is needed. Thanks for being my friends.

You need to stop whining about the coaches and realize this was more on the players than anything else. The coaches aren't the ones out their missing tackles, dropping balls, and overthrowing the receivers.

For once I agree with SJ. It seems many of us including the coaches may have overestimated some of the players and their dedication. No one player is the issue to me though. Many are! and that stinks!

I don't think anyone overestimated their dedication. They came out flat and didn't execute on Saturday. It happens to teams. There are God knows how many reasons why people come out with low intensity. We didn't have 65+ guys stay here this summer to work out for nothing. It wasn't a dedication thing. Talking to players they've said it was a "fluke" (their actions, their intensity, etc). I don't think we'll ever see it again.

You missed my point entirely.

Their heads were filled with fans saying undefeated, playoffs, conference champs, best team ever, etc. They were filled with coaches saying good to great and us tooting that horn too. They were filled with local and regional press hyping them up. In short they bought their own press and we are right back to where this team really is sans hype. This IS the team as it really is RIGHT NOW because they lost focus. Can it get better from here, yes and it will. I would bet they will improve greatly from game to game from here, but only by pulling themselves up by the bootstraps and working their toucuses off. Win one for the gipper. Wait I got carried away!

See, the players didn't believe all of that. The coaches did a great job of keeping them level headed. The team's goal was never, at any point, anything other than a Big South Championship. Say what you want, but the players didn't buy into the hype. They knew what they had to do.

So you explain the let down. How do you have a let down like that coming off a loss like W&M? They should have come out angry. How do you lose focus when you know Elon is a good team and you have to come out and prove you can beat someone else rather than juse D2 teams?

I don't know. I can't explain it. It's not because they thought they were better than they were. I don't want to denigrate you by saying you haven't watched sports, but tell me why teams don't show up in the Super Bowl, the national championship game, etc. Sometimes you come out flat and it can't be explained. That's sport. I have no clue why they didn't have the intensity on Saturday. I've been on the bus to games with my high school where I knew going into the game that we were flat and weren't going to play good.

I disagree with you on this SJ....regardless of what the players say, their actions speak much louder then what they tell you personally...they aren't going to admit to buying into their own hype....I think its a natural thing to happen, and like I said before in another thread, maybe using the slogan "Good 2 Great" was a mistake.

Of course that is easy to say now...I liked it, and still do...but it was too early to aim to great....we were average last year...we were MUCH,MUCH better then the year before....but not good...

As I keep saying, all of this is easy to say now...we all bought into it too....

I think the players realize their wrongs and the coaching staff will have their heads where they need to be for the rest of the season.

Posty, if they bought into the hype, they wouldn't have been working nearly as hard as they were. They wouldn't have put the time in that they were putting in. Some may have bought into it, but believe me, the starters did not.

I agree with Jon to some extent on this one, and I hope it's true. I hope that this past Saturday was just a fluke. That's what I keep telling myself. I hope it's the case. We will find out though as the season progresses.
