It's a work in progress, but we've started a blog on the N&A web site, and I'll be updating with notes and posts throughout the game and throughout the week. Nathan Warters (VT) and Andy Bitter (UVa) will also contribute to the site. Be sure to check it out at http://nasports.wordpress.com.

It will be tough for you to be as insightful as the pearls of wisdom tossed around here in our game thread.

Just posted one more item. Give us all some time to get used to posting ... it was pretty much impossible for Nate to post anything tonight from Baton Rouge given the deadline situation down there. It's definitely a work in progress.

You have to train your mind to operate differently while covering a game. And speaking from experience that can be a challenge. But its cool that you guys are taking this step.

Oh, no doubt Sly. Just FYI, since you're not in town and don't see the actual paper that much, we do an entire inside page of notes, stats, by the numbers stuff, etc., etc. Makes it really tough to do it all and still hit deadline during those night games. Afternoon games are much easier, for sure.

I liked that, also, to see Flames stuff in the company of the other two big kids on the block.

Perhaps, just perhaps, that trifecta can become a Virginia version of the Research triangle in NC that also encompasses two state schools and a religious private (UNC, NC State, Duke) albeit some will conclude that Duke is more loosely Methodist these days. 8)

A Central Virginia Region version of the NC Piedmont Region, if you will:

The Research Triangle, commonly referred to as "The Triangle", is a region in the Piedmont of North Carolina in the United States, anchored by the cities of Raleigh [Balcksburg], Durham[Lynchburg], and Chapel Hill[Charlottesville]. The region is comprised of two Metropolitan Statistical areas, Raleigh-Cary, NC, and Durham, NC. Its estimated total population as of 2005 was 1,509,560. The research universities of Duke University [Liberty], North Carolina State University [Virginia Tech], and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill [University of Virginia] are located in this region.

Just a grandiose thought.

The difference is the furthest those are apart from each other is like 30 minutes.

True enough.

I suppose we'd have to stretch the distance a bit...LU to Tech is what like 1.5 hours and LU to UVA is roughly an hour? (It's been awhile since I've driven that corridor of VA.)

The MSA on the graphic for the research triangle in NC, though, looks like it encompasses roughly the same land mass area though at a first initial glance without breaking out the calculators. At any rate, just a thought, since that would be nice synergy and there are lots of Tech and UVA influence on our campus already from terminal degrees for profs (i.e. Cider) and in general management positions of the university (i.e. I think the guy in charge of auxiliary services is from Tech...)

In all seriousness, a very nice addition. Thanks!

I can post-pad with the best of them ... but in reality, we're trying to promote the heck out of this thing. It's a great way to supplement to our newspaper coverage. We're going to try to update continually through the week, save for Sundays and Mondays, which are generally our days off. The more people who know about it, the better.

Not to mention it will cover that sometimes 3-4 day lag before the on-line sports section is actually updated.

Absolutely. Getting the word out about blogs is extremely hard. We appreciate all your hard work!

I like this better than newspaper articles. It seems like you have more freedom in expressing opinions. And heck even writing about things you saw on messageboards. This just goes to show that the N&A needs a sports columnist so we can either love or hate him.
