well blaming on being christian is going a little overboard. Churches are just easy networking places. But I will say that I was witness to a quixtar pitch just yesterday. 2 people were chatting in the cube next to me and they must have been talking about Christmas, and the one guy goes "are you planning on doing any of your shopping online?" I immediately knew what was coming next. I think she did too because she started scrambling to change the topic. "because you could save a lot of money with my business." I was just laughing and made a mental note not to ever talk with that guy again.

it's a pyramid style marketing company that you want to stay away from if you value having friends and family. I'm shocked you haven't been approched about it before being college aged.

Maybe LC students aren't stupid enough to do this Quixtar stuff then.

i just assumed it was because with any employer, most are looking for people who would be worthwhile to their business not be a drain on it

Saturday I saw a shirt saying "Friends dont let friends Quixtar" I laughed so hard. I think 90% of the people in Lynchburg connected have attended or still attending LU...I think that's a safe bet

I'm in the facebook group "If you're from Quixtar, don't talk to me." What a scam Quixtar is. There's also one not a big as Quixtar - MonaVie - which isn't online shopping, it's a $40 bottle of water.

is it an epidemic on the LC campus? doesnt seem like it to me and seemingly everyone I know at LC has never been acocunted by some quixtar fiend, so my theory that LU students are stupider than LC's - in regards to quixtar, not generally overall (generally overall it's probably about even) - still stands.

A friend of mine told me about this "elite mentoring program" and that I should sign up for the weekly meeting--I thought I'd give it a shot. I dusted off the suit and when I show up, after about 2 minutes I realize it's a ridiculous pyramid scheme. Lovely.

It sure sounded good.

I don't think it's as bad as it used to be either. There was a point where you couldn't sit down at a restaurant in town without being approached if you looked college-aged. I've even had several couples that I'm friends with tell me stories about being double-teamed in a store by a Quixtar couple. (The husband and wife approach their counterparts separately until they figure out who makes the financial decisions in the home, then they close in on that person.) It was pretty bad. It's been a long time since I've been approached, but I look older now (I think) and my natural expression is one of simmering anger, so maybe they just leave me alone.

I had a cable guy pitch it to me while doing an install. I'll add that this wasn't in Lynchburg. Quixtar is everywhere.

Rule number one: never give your phone number to a Quixtar rep.
