Speaking of which theres a guy on my dorm trying out for the K spot today at 4. he says he can hit 40 consistently but you can never trust a kicker's judgement.

I was there for the last kid that won the Nissan Truck. He had to win a few races against other students and then make a 30 (or possibly 40) yarder. It was crazy when he did it. Apparenlty they decided that was too easy to win a vehicle. The odds of this are better than the one for bball though. Make a FT, a 3PT and if you're decent enough of a player to do that, you have to make the halfcourt shot as well.

Yeah, A.C. is a friend of mine. He knew for a about a month that he was going to have a shot at the 40 yarder, so he went out, got a ball and started practicing. He had a little bit of a soccer background and he got a few tips from whoever the kicker on the team was at that point, but for the most part, he just figured it out. I spent a couple of afternoons with him shagging his attempts. The money kick in the game was great...there was about a 25 mph tailwind and the thing barely snuck through the bottom left corner of the uprights. If I remember correctly, there were about 1,000 people in the stands for that game.

I seriously thought that kid was going to get the car. His third kick looked good...until it missed just left. Get the kid some pads!

Yea, he certainly had the leg, but he was really rushing all his kicks. I think he thought he was running out of time, but he still had thirty seconds left when he rushed that last kick from the forty. He ran back ... turned around and sprinted up to the ball, I think he easily could have made had he relaxed just a bit!
