A friend of mine just e-mailed me and asked if 'The Iraq' is anything like 'The Ohio State University'.

What instrument do you play?Im actually in the field crew (real proper way of saying band manager) because I blew my knee out two years ago in a freak accident trying to hustle down a hill over on East Campus and get to class. I was hoping to play trombone this year but my knee can't take teh daily pounding. Id probably hasten reconstructive knee surgery if I marched.

I actually only partially tore my ACL and also tore my meniscus when I slipped on a hill as I was walking to class. my left foot shot out and I essentially fell into a hurdler position on the hill and bent my right knee so far that I actually sat on my right ankle. The doctor when he told me about it said that I could still walk on it but that Id have to have more surgery at some point.
...define blown-out knee for me there. I find it hard to believe that you tore your ?CL and are out just walking around without ever having had reconstructive knee surgery.

Fumblerooskies wrote:that is the term the guy who did the arthroscopic procedure used. Some days it feels great, and some days I only walk with a very pronounced limp. I have to wear a brace a lot of the time too. I actually had to have staples in my knee after the surgery for almost a week.SuperJon wrote:If you even partially tear your ACL you ain't walkin. Not so fast, my friend...
...it is quite possible for some athletes to play with a partial tear (with proper rehab and guidance from a Certified Athletic Trainer), or what might be called an "ACL deficient knee." BJ might be perfectly fine walking and taking part in normal daily activities, but things like <del>stalking</del> marching could definitely be contraindicated.

SuperJon wrote:If you even partially tear your ACL you ain't walkin. My buddy was the first person in the burg to have both his ACL's replaced at the same time. Both were torn and he walked on them for 4 months before getting surgery. He tore one playing football for LU years ago and the other playing basketball, so it is possible although he did have some discomfort.
