Hey, we're heading in the right direction ...
Football Season Tickets Crack 1,000 Mark

August 16, 2007
Lynchburg, Va.

For the first time in program history, Liberty’s football season tickets have eclipsed the 1,000-ticket mark as announced by the Flames Ticket Office earlier today.

Last weekend, LibertyFlames.com’s Countdown to Kickoff campaign reported that the premium seating area, atop the west stands, was nearly sold out with approximately 50 season tickets left in the 660-seat area.

It's amazing to see the increase on the ticket sales. 100 and some in 2005, 400 something last year, now we're over 1000! Amazing.

Seems the confidence Rocco has brought with him is spilling over...another good season and perhaps see another 100% in ticket sales.

As Rocco builds a winning tradition, the product obviously will sell itself...but it would be interesting to see a jersey promotion whereby season ticket holders could buy their season pass which would include one of the alternate field replica jerseys. So LU wouldn't have to eat the cost of the jersey, perhaps buying a season ticket would allow the bearer of said season ticket to buy the jersey at cost to the school. For a very raw example, instead of the $72/Season Ticket or whatever it is this year, you would pay a package deal of like $115 or so which would give you the tickets and a field replica red alternate jersey--akin to ND's green jersey...assuming the cost to the school to buy them in bulk would be half of retail or slightly higher if that cost translates to 66% of retail. That would be pretty cool...instant Red Sea (especially on the Baptist side.)

Is there any point where they stop selling tickets at the gate based on the number of people? Other than when the Fire Marshall drops by and tell them to.

That would be nice, but Nike gives them no deals. LU has to pay full price from Nike, which is considerable.

easy on the old hag stuff. not everyone on the "baptist" side sits on their hands. it is a new culture that will continue to be cultivated. not too long ago, there were not many students on that side, and the ones that were there left early. we are all in the same family and this culture is very new to liberty football as as i said before will take time. the strides made so far have been great and it will get better.

From what I was told last year, they'll sell tickets until nobody wants them anymore.

Yes, that is true. They will never stop selling tickets, because there's a whole lot of grass around the stadium.

Yes. I'm far from an old hag (in some ways) and I sit over there. No one has really ever had anything worth standing up over at an LU game until last year. I think a lot of people spent the season in shock. It'll get better as people become more passionate about Flames football. Eventually, they'll stand up without even thinking about it.

The ones I have a problem with aren't the ones from this board. The ones I do not like are the ones that tell everyone else to sit down. I know plenty of people (even some on here) who have been told to sit down by other people at games. I was told by a fan at the Coastal game last year to sit down.

honestly, that is a problem at every sporting event on every level. Pop Warner, NFL, NCAA at all schools. There's the "try-to-make-you-sit-down-ers" and the "I-paid-to-socialize-ers".

I've only had people tell me to sit down at concerts, which is when I pretty much quit going to shows with more than a thousand people there.

If someone told me that at a football game I'd probably give 'em a big fat finger.

Of the foam rubber variety, of course. We're #1!
