I know I'll take flak for this but Jeter is perhaps the most overrated player of our generation.
Ozzie's nowhere close to 3,000 hits (2,400 appx). He was average at best offensively. He would be lucky to have a job today.
Jeter was overrated. He is not anymore. He has some of the best numbers of all time. He may even pass Pete Rose on the all time hit list. I consider myself a bit of a baseball-historian and believe me for shortstops there is practically no one like Jeter. Add to that 4 WS rings UNBELIEVABLE clutch hitting, not to mention some his heroic moments both offensively and defensively and you have a LEGEND. Look at his statistics year by year. He is reliable, and consistently outstanding. Every year. People used to say the same thing about Garciaparra and Tejada but statistically the don't even come close.
If you think Jeter is overrated you don't know baseball or you must be from Texas.
I do agree about AROD, but AROD is one of the top 5 players ever at any position BAR-NONE.
