I am not sure who or how this was scheduled but Penn State is Playing Costal Carolina next year. People up here aren't to happy with the non-conference schedule JoPa is scheduling. Seems odd but hey who knows someday we could see Rocco and the boys up here with his connections to the Penn State program.

The Nittany Lions recently released the majority of their non-conference schedule for those seasons and there isn't much to look at. Next year, PSU will open its season Aug. 30 at home against Division I-AA Coastal Carolina. A Beaver Stadium date with Arkansas State follows the next week.

I'm not really impressed with anyone's nonconference schedule besides Notre Dame, and thats granted every year. Forcing everyone to go to a 12th game messed it up. No offense to the Longorn fans on this board but look at Texas' schedule this year. It's a joke. We honestly might see 4-5 teams this year finish with a undefeated schedule. I'm gonna say the most hyped non-conference game this year besides any Notre dame game will be Florida State and Bama down in J-Ville

Has a Big South Conference football team ever played a bigger football school than Penn State before?

In the words of Jerry Seinfeld, I will say this to Coastal: "Good luck with all of that." (Accompanied by circular hand motions)

as opposed to their in conference schedule? I don't think you can consider what they have as a nonconference schedule. It's just a schedule.

V.T at LSU is in most people's eyes in the top 3 of non-conference games.... I asked this question last week about the PSU connection with C.C and the A.D at Coastal has the connection...

I am a huge Penn State fan but I hope CC does something if only for the image of the Big South. Though I don't count on it.

Put me on record as seeing no significant downside. Sure they are likely to get drilled by 60+ points. But their players will be telling their grandkids about playing at Happy Valley. Having a date like this on their schedule is a fantastic recruiting tool.

Congrats to the Chants and perhaps someday soon we'll have a similar type of game to look forward to. And yes I realize how close we were this past year.

To go with what GMTB/M said, Coastal's AD played at Penn St. Also, Coastal's QB is an academic advisor for Penn St. This has been rumored since I was at Coastal (05) but I guess they just now signed it.

That's a very good game for them -- but I have to agree with GMTM, VT vs. LSU has to be one of the top games of the year, if not the best of the season. Ohio State vs. Mich. never fails to live up to the hype, either.

That's rather impressive. I'm guessing there's a lot of telecommuting involved.

I would have to say VT at LSU is one of the top non-conference match-ups this year.

And good for Coastal scheduling Penn St., that is a definite boost to their already fine program.

CCU QB's brother is former Nittany Lions QB Wally Richardson who now works as an academic advisor.

Sept. 15, 2007 at Michigan (ABC) 2:30 pm CT
Sept. 22, 2007 Michigan State (NBC) 2:30 pm CT
Sept. 29, 2007 at Purdue TBA
Oct. 6, 2007 at UCLA (ABC) 7:00 pm CT
Oct. 13, 2007 Boston College (NBC) 2:30 pm CT
Oct. 20, 2007 Southern Cal (NBC) 2:30 pm CT
Nov. 3, 2007 Navy (NBC) 1:30 pm CT
Nov. 10, 2007 Air Force (NBC) 1:30 pm CT
Nov. 17, 2007 Duke (NBC) 1:30 pm CT

yes there are no I-AA games...but when you compare this to lets say a team from the SEC its a cupcake schedule compared to what those teams have to do in conference alone

Notre Dame will always get special treatment for being Notre Dame....but please....tough schedule??
