...and what a schedule it is. Way to go, Coach T., in setting the bar high:
Games against 10 2008 NCAA Regional teams, including a contest at NCAA World Series participant North Carolina, and a 27-game conference slate are just some of the highlights of the 2009 Liberty Flames baseball schedule, released today by Liberty Coach Jim Toman.

Liberty will face North Carolina, which made its third consecutive College World Series appearance last season, in Chapel Hill, N.C, on Feb. 25. It will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2003.

The Flames will also meet NCAA Regional squads Ole Miss, North Carolina State, and Virginia in single contests, while squaring off with James Madison and Big South foe, Coastal Carolina, a 2008 Super Regional participant, three times.

very good schedule. UNC, UVA, VT, and Ole Miss are good teams for us to play. Setting the bar high is right!

VT is a garbage ACC porgram, but agreed it's good to play someone from that conference as well as an in-state foe.

I was hoping for a roadie my way like a few years ago at Rice. But my wait continues for any Flames team to visit the Lone Star State.

Looks very similar to past years?? We play VT and VA every year. It's a good schedule, but it's not like the talent of teams have jumped. IMO

Ummmmmmmm.........playing the Heels is a jump.

NC State was a tough team last season as well, although not CWS caliber.

Its good to see LU playing some top opponents consistently.

Not a downer, just saying that one thing Liberty has been good at in every sport for as long as i can remember is getting big teams to schedule them. We play big schools that would have laughed at us 10 years ago every season now.

I think more than schedule excitement now in baseball...we need to see improvement and wins. This staff has those expectations now, because the school has invested so much in them.
