I don't expect this thread to go too far but since we hijacked LB's thread I figured I would start this one. For me the list starts with Jeff Riber (2002-2004). This kid was as popular as any starter or star I have ever seen. The crowd would chant his name in the first half!
Brian Woodson (2003-2005). Quite simply, the addition of Blair and Dees as freshman along with Woodson in the backcourt put that team over the top and won a championship. They don't win that year without him.
Charles Richardson (1985-1989). He transfered from Spring Arbor, a small school in Michigan and he was one of the top shooters on the team that eventually became a division 1 qualifier. Former teammate of mine. He was 6-5 and a little slow on D but he made up for it with his shot. Shot 44% along with me in 1988-89 from 3. Still is listed for a few records in the 3 point department.
Jason Allison (1995-1998). One could argue that he was every bit as popular as Reebs because the crowds were bigger during his time. He developed into a decent division 1 player by the time it was all said and done due to playing every day against arguably the best backcourt combo in LU history (Marcus White-Larry Jackson). One of the best young minds in the game and is now an assistant at the Big South's own VMI.
Teddy McClain and Danny Curbison (1990-1993). Those 2 guards were a huge reason why Chris Toomer and Matt Hildebrand developed into the players they were. Neither ever saw much time as a player (although they both dressed out and traveled towards the end). They were 2 of the quickest on the ball defenders you will ever see. Ask Eric Pothoven, Brett Anthony and Jody Chapman and they will all tell you the same thing.
There are others (including myself but you guys know my resume by now). I would be interested to see who were the impact walkons during the Hankinson era when I was excommunicated from the program and wasn't around as much.
