nice first step...good ability in close, would like to see if he has a midrange game (10-18 feet out), good that he can run the floor (even as a big) very sound free throw form, would like to see him in game action so we can see how he plays defense but looks pretty solid

Couple of things about this guy that they said...

- guy is a defensive force. wont get pushed around like Carter, and JVP. long wing span and really athletic, can run the floor. Can control the paint
-Offensively is still developing. He's really raw (ala Sommy) but alot of his put backs are dunks or "strong" putbacks

website has his reported height and weight at 6'11 and 255

he certainly looks like he could be a real banger which means he can get to the free throw line a lot and get a lot of opposing bigs in foul trouble

Wow, talk about rough, rugged and raw. He does appear to have a “stiff” but nice low post move (might be stressing technique in the video) with the ability to finish strong once he’s near the basket. But what is fantastic is that this big man can run on a fast-break, turn, squat call for the ball quickly! I really hope that Layer & co. can lock him down I think the upside would be a game changer for the team in the Big South.

“Ude comes to us from Bayelsa, Nigeria. He has been playing organized basketball for 3 years and his best basketball is ahead of him. A true Big Man, Ude takes pride in his defense and rebounding. He has brought his work ethic and enthusiasm to SJNMA everyday. Fluent in 3 languages Ude hopes to major in agriculture”

wow he looks like he'd be a great player.

My only question is, if he doesn't buy some vowels, how can we fit his name on a jersey?

Anyways, I hope this kid ends up here. If Antwan Burrus doesn't get it together, we need someone else. I'm not sure that JVP is ready for that role yet. I was at the game at Radford and I can think of one time he freely could have dunked the ball and he seemed scared.

Having the ability to get up and down the floor quickly can work against an uptempo style team like VMI (especially with a guy like Covington who gives them low post presence and someone who can kick out of a high-low game)

"Hopes to" and will are two completely different things. If he comes here we may not have that major but Im sure that he can find something that interests him. How many people have had one major in mind but changed it once they got somewhere...

How well I know. My father, who had a PHD in agronomy, took early retirement and relocated from Ohio to the Lynchburg area based on a promise by the then head of our science department that he would have a job starting a new ag program. It never happened, and it was a financial disaster for him and my mom. Even so, they never stopped loving Doc or the school.

it would be a year or two before we would see some post moves from this guy (he's literally just got into bball) if he came here but he can be a defensive force.

at least they're in good condition

I'm sorry, but Austin Smith is too fresh in my mind to think like that.

The prep schools are tryin to get these guys college ready so they arent going to skimp on the conditioning and training. College coaches (especially the D-I level) know that if they want to get legit talent and they cant get kids right out of high school, they can get some real blue chippers from the PG programs

I've mentioned it before but we have a huge Nigerian community in Houston and calling highlights down here was brutal back in my former life.

I will go out on a limb and suggest that farming may be a tribal deal for Ude.

If we land this guy, I feel more for Dave Clark than I do Alan...if he scores both teams may have scored again by the time he finishes the last name

Trying to imagine Coach Layer's recruiting speech to Ude:

"Well, we don't have AG as a major, but if you want to play in the NBA, I'm you're man. And Liberty has a long history of Nigerian centers on our team--Juice and Aluma are legends in your home country, and they got their start at Liberty. Have you met Sommy? You all could be roommates next year."

Marshall will probably get him. He knows the 7 footer we had that Wichita has now.

Unless this kid is pretty confident that he is a better player than his buddy Orukpe, I doubt he would want to go to Wichita State because the guy is doing nothing but collecting splinters on Marshall's bench..
