As of this moment, and not necessarily by position, although I put 2 guards and 3 forwards/centers on each team

First team:

Seth
Chavis Holmes (VMI)
Smitty
Joseph Harris (CCU)
Artisom Parakhauski (RU)

Second Team:

Jamarco Warren (CSU)
Grayson Flittner (G-W)
Travis Holmes (VMI)
Reid Augst (UNCA)
Joey Lynch-Flor RU)

All-Freshman (had to go with 3 guards here):

Seth
Jesse
Nick Barbour (HP)
Josh Henley (G-W)
Steadman Short (HP)

POY: Parakhauski

FOY: Seth

DPOY: John Williams (UNCA)

COY: Richie

I will probably come off like a homer with most of my picks but here are mine:

PoY: I think Anthony Smith or Seth Curry would fit well here but I would go with Smitty here
FoY: No doubt...Seth Curry, Liberty
CoY: This one is a toss up I think between Duggar Baucom, Brad Greenberg and Ritchie McKay
DPoY: I really cant give a definitive pick here

All Conference 1st Team

Anthony Smith Liberty University
Seth Curry, Liberty University
Joseph Harris, Coastal Carolina
Artsiom Parakhouski, Radford University
Chavis Holmes, Virginia Military Institute

All Conference 2nd Team

Kyle Ohman, Liberty University
Jamarco Warren, Charleston Southern University
Travis Holmes, Virginia Military Institute
Grayson Flittner, Gardner-Webb University
Takayo Siddle, Gardner-Webb University

All Freshman Team
Seth Curry, Liberty University
Jesse Sanders, Liberty University
Matt Dickey, UNC Asheville
Matt Barbour, High Point University
Keith Gabriel, Virginia Military Institute

I agree with a lot of the above pics but I think Grayson Flintner from GW will probably get 2nd seed not Linn. Flitner has been hurt though late in the year and that might cost him.

COY will probably be Duggar Baucom too.
DPOY could be Cruz Daniels

Joey Lynch-Flohr from Radford has to get something probably too I would say but I don't know who that removes.

My post was about the 1st post...I do agree with BJ's entire freshman team though.

Actually, I had my Gardner-Webb guards confused. I changed my choice to Flittner.

It's possible the best 5 freshmen in the league were all guards, but Henley was one of the top rebounders in the league and Short played really well against us at High Point, so I put a couple of bigs in there. As with all VMI players, Gabriel's numbers are inflated, and I just wasn't that impressed with Dickey.

Are you sure the Holmes twins didn't do their famous switcharoo on you BJ? You do know that it is Chavis who has played all year and is leading the conference in scoring. Travis missed several games, and has not had quite the numbers when he played that his brother has. You have Travis on the first team and Chavis on the second team.

just crossed em up in my head when I made it out...I'll fix that but I do think both of them have had all conference seasons (even in spite of their playing style which I know inflates numbers and Travis dealing with injury)

if RU finishes in 1st, i dont see how Brad Greenberg isnt COY for taking us from 7th to 1st in a year. But if VMI finishes in 1st its definitely Duggar's.

id have to go w/ Chavis Holmes as POY, Seth as FOY, probably Chavis Holmes or Cruz Daniels as DOY.

I can't agree on Holmes poppa. Reggie Williams led the nation in scoring twice and was not named POY in the BSC. Of course he had the misfortune of playing at the same time as AZ Reid, but the point is that the voters know those numbers are inflated. If Chavis played for LU, he would be our 3rd option on offense. I think your big guy is the best player we have faced all year.

haha i definitely think big art should be in the POY discussion also, i just didnt want to come off to homery :D but w/ chavis, he leads the league in points and steals, 8th in blocks, and his team is playing really well. art is 8th in the nation in rebounding and has been a dominant force in the lane the whole season, something the big south hasnt seen in awhile. i think either one would be good choice.

We were just talking about this tonight. The freshman team is going to be tough to pick. Curry, Gabriel, Josh Henley and Nick Barbour are all locks. The fifth spot's going to be tough. Sanders, Matt Dickey and Andre Jones will all be in the mix.

Also, I don't think Jamarco Warren will make 2nd team.

My best guess:

1st
CHolmes, Parakhouski, Anthony Smith, Curry, Harris

2nd
Kenon, Lynch-Flohr, Flittner, Coleman, Augst.

Chavis and or Travis could win Defensive POY too.

I admit I'd surprised if Jamarco isn't 2nd team. But then again, I've not crunched the numbers. And sadly crunching numbers may be what keeps Jesse out of the all-freshman team. You can't measure intangibles on a stat sheet. And most of those voting only see opposing players two games a year (if that).

Just a hunch, but everyone in this league has bent over backwards in regards to Presbyterian, so I'd be stunned if Al'Lonzo Coleman doesn't make second team over Warren, whose team likely won't even make the league tournament. Coleman's a better all-around player, so it would be a justified move.

I'd be interested in the reasoning for choosing Kenon over Warren. Jamarco scores only .8ppg less in BSC play in a "normal" offensive system than Kenon does at VMI. He is actually scoring more if you look at the whole year. I would also say that Warren has a more versatile game than Kenon, who is almost exclusively a spot up 3 point shooter.

I will agree that Jamarco is more obnoxious.

Jesse actually has some numbers on his side Sly, the most impressive being his league-leading assist/turnover ratio. He is also second in total assists and 12th in rebounding, and has only the 5th triple double in conference history and only the second by a guard.

All of those things make Jesse a sure thing for the all freshman team IMO. Especially if the coaches are voting. I wonder why I don't get a vote? Lang you get one right?

It always seems that these things tend to follow scoring & rebounding lines more than anything else. Obviously you know how I feel about my Houston guys. I would love to see both Anthony & Jesse get some conference-wide love.

Coleman from Presby will get a lot of votes. I can't see Jamarco not making 2nd team though. It is going to be a tough voting though. Honesty Ohman deserves to be 2nd team but I don't think 3 Liberty players will get in. Austin Kenon is a terrific shooter and will get votes too but I think Jamarco will get more. Omar Carter will be in the mix too but may not get enough votes to make the squad. Smitty is a lock for 1st team IMO. Seth is too.

You are right about the heavy emphasis placed on points for these things Sly. However I think when you see a Freshman at or near the top of the league in multiple statistical categories, people will take notice.

Yes, I get a vote. Sanders should be on the freshman team, definitely.

If you recall, we had a coach (who shall not be named) take Liberty from last in the entire country to 2nd in the Big South in 2003. And Greg Marshall still got COY that year.
