The good thing is that they are playing an overrated Tenn team... so it is as if they got a 13 or 14, cause Tennessee ain't a 2.

Winthrop got screwed big time. They are at least a 14 maybe a 13 seed. I guess the Big South just doesn't carry enough credibility. I don't know.

How can the Big South be credible. The league dominates the lower third of the RPI, and for the most part, the out of conference strength of schedule is abyssmal. Did Winthrop get the seed shaft, yes--but they drew a legit 4 or 5 seed, so it is like being a 12, in a very winnable game.

Maybe Marshall can call Buzz and get some pointers.

Yeah, if WU is going to be a #15 seed, they definitely got the #2 seed they wanted. I don't know how they went about some of this...but how in the world did Montana get a #12 seed? That's better than a couple of at-large teams and I didn't think they deserved to be ahead of Winthrop even (slightly better RPI, but their best win was vs. Stanford).

Maybe he could, if Buzz wasn't complaining about Marshall not lobbying enough for a Coastal NIT bid...I doubt Buzz will be much help now.

Just to answer the Montana question ... the RPI was very good to begin with. The Grizzlies beat Wis.-Milwaukee, took out Big Sky champ Northern Arizona twice, beat Stanford, and returned a lot of people from a team last year that gave Washington all it wanted in the NCAAs. I think it's a legit seed.

Not saying that Winthrop didn't get hosed ... actually, they got the perfect matchup. Eagle fans should be thrilled to see Tennessee on the other side of the bracket. That's a team that sucked down the stretch, is young, and doesn't have NCAA experience. Winthrop is the opposite of all of those.

I don't know if we can blame the Big South for Winthrop's seeding this year. The RPI was as high as 19 late in the year out of 31 or 32 conferences. That puts us in the top 2/3 not the bottom third. I think they will beat Tennessee. This could be the first 15 over 2 since Hampton over ISU a while back.

I just hope Marshall doesn't have a player pick him up and then kick his feet in the air... worked for Hamptons coach... might look a little fruity for Greg.

Winthrop didn't get hosed - the deserve the 15 seed or perhaps even 16. They lost twice to an ok Coastal team and a very bad Liberty team - not really credentials that scream 12 seed.

But you can say the same thing about just about all of the 13-15 seeds...And none of them beat an at-large tourney team like Marquette....But what's done is done...time to beat the Vols.

yeah, I don't know if homeslice knows what he's talking about. With the 13-16 seeds, you don't really earn the higher seed because they all have really bad losses but not all have good wins/RPI. You really just have to prove that you suck less than the rest of that feild. I feel that WU does suck less than more than just 5 teams that got the 16.

What's funny is, I've seen A LOT of people on the internet and a couple of people I know at work that are picking WU for the upset. I know they have a really good chance, maybe even a 45/55 chance in my eyes based on the SEC teams they've played already (not quite willing to go 50/50), but I don't know if I have the cajones to pick them. This could be a very exciting year for the Big South.

Well, I certainly think they got the hose on the seeding, as did quite a few other teams (GW as an 8?) I thought 14 for sure and maybe if the Marquette win held some good weight a 13. I agree on Tennessee though, it's like we are a 13 with that match-up, I thought they should have been a 4.

If WU can beat the press and keep it a slow paced defensive game, they have a good shot. Not sure who can match-up with Bradshaw, Major Wingate isn't quick enough to guard him on the perimeter, and their other players too short. Hopefully Bradshaw can pull Wingate out of the paint and open it up inside. Tenn is not a good rebounding team and when WU wins over major conference opponents they usually do it with a good rebounding margin over the opposing team. We shall see.

I wouldn't count on getting any help from Buzz, Marshall already burned that bridge Anyway why would Buzz want to help WU against UT, most of those kids at UT are his recruits.

What!?! I was/am picking UT. I LOVE that Orange. Sure it is a fall color, but with the blue shading, it really turns into a nice spring!! That is why I am picking UT!

Buzz not giving pointers? WU didn't ask for any, unlike Buzz who apparently will cry if daddy Marshall won't help him out.

Sorry LU posters but we're a little tired of the crying game.
