Lots of places probably. Thats the only valid reason I have heard though (when considering doing it for the future of the program). Did I say that I was the only one saying that?

If we want to talk about swinging for the fences, there is a really high profile guy with an impressive resume out there who is not only a committed christian, but an ordained minister. When we were seeking a coach in 07, I mentioned him as my "dream hire" but he was not really available at the time. I believe he is now. Anyone remember who it is? Hint: He has no college coaching experience.

Winna winna chicken dinna!

The "Little General" held the record for fastest NBA coach to 100 wins for a few years. It has since been broken by Tom Thibideux. He has been out of coaching since being let go by the Nets in 2012. Don't know if he is doing TV commentary now like he did after his stint in Dallas or what.

David Robinson?
Great christian man, great player, never coached................. which doesn't mean he COULDN'T, but being a D1 HC with zero experience would be a "stretch", even for a 7'1" NBA legend like the Admiral. Maybe Avery could hire him as an assistant.

I think he may have coached at the Academy he runs in Texas. Plus, the rumor on the street is he was a heck of an Upwards coach! :pbjtime :cheerleader

Avery Johnson is still an ESPN analyst.

Not surprising. Guys got to work. I think he has proven before however that he would prefer to coach, But that may only be if it's an NBA job.

RPI is a pile of feces. Has 3-loss Kansas #3, VCU #4, six-loss Butler #15, Georgia #24, Louisville #30, and Liberty lower than 4 teams that hasn't won a single game against a D1 team.

The College Basketball Ranking Composite, which includes the RPI, Pomeroy, Sagarin, ESPN's BPI, and a whole slew of rankings I'd never heard of before, has Liberty 340. It takes them all and averages them, so one stupid ranking like RPI has minimal impact.

That's about what I thought. We aren't the worst team in the country but we are still horrible. Totally unacceptable. I'm kind of glad this came from someone who is obviously not an LU Kool Aid drinker.

OK - to bring us back to the purpose of this thread. I have some canidates we should consider. Some big and some good coaches that are at a lower level, but could be good -

Jim Crutchfield - West Liberty. Offensive coach, knows how to win. Coaches Division II.
Dave Davis - Newberry. Coaches Division II. Doesn't move a lot, but plays high tempo offense and wins.
Josh Schertz - Lincoln Memorial University - Division II. Scores, but also ranks high in Defense. Wins.
C.B. McGrath - Assistant at UNC. Been coaching under Williams since he stopped playing and a great recruiter.
Jeff Neubauer - EKU - Been mentioned on here already. Not sure if he would leave EKU for LU.
Michael White - Currently coaching at Louisiana Tech. I would hope we could convince him this would be an upgrade. Great defensive coach.
Rick Stansbury - Was coach MSU, now Assistant at Texas A&M

I don't know if any of the above would fit here at Liberty, but they would be an upgrade, IMO.

I've already mentioned it once but I hope we give Dave Davis a consideration. He's the coach at Newberry and has been great everywhere he's coached. He also has a connection to Liberty, albeit a small connection but a connection nonetheless.

We're not going to steal a head coach from a C-USA program. Neubauer has a very good program at EKU. Why would he leave for us?

Like I said it would be tough, but I also think we can show any coach the potential to make a move. We have great facilities and now a history of showing how we jump behind success. I.e - football and baseball.

I think it's a matter of time before LU is looked at in a very different way. A coach will want to be part of where liberty's going.

Which is why getting an establish HC from a CUSA or other conference of its ilk would be a white whale
