Yeah, man we suck. Feels like 08-09 again. Don't think our guys are getting the message that Coach is putting out there. I believe in our guys but if we don't learn how to defend for we're gonna be a 5 seed. I'm no expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once
If I'm not mistaken, things didn't look much different for WU about this time last year, and that didn't turn out too badly for you guys. I think there is slippage from the Marshall years, but I still see Winthrop as a team that could win the tournament, even if they don't get a top 4 seed.

Looking at the standings though, it's encouraging to see that they have only played 2 road games so far, which is the fewest in the league. Personally, I think we need to beat them in Conway to get the #1 seed, but I do believe they will lose at least one more. Most likely at CSU or Asheville.
They play @ Asheville and @GW this coming week.

They have @ Asheville, vs LU, @ Winthrop, @ CSUcks as their only opportunities to lose from here on out. I think they lose tonight and lose one of the last 2 mentioned.

But you're right, if they win tonight, they will be unbeaten when we play them again.

I thought that they had another couple games in between

They do. The play @ UNCA, @ G-W, @ HPU, @ Radford, then vs. LU.

Interesting night. While it's nice to get some separation from CSU (they lost), Coastal destroyed their opponent in what everybody had pegged as one of their best chances to lose. So that sucks. I have no doubt we can beat Coastal especially minus Holmes (I don't buy addition by subtraction), but there is no way we're going undefeated the rest of the way, we need anybody to step up and take them out.

If we get by Coastal where do you see us losing? Winthrop maybe... but other than that I think it would be a fairly big upset for someone to knock us off even on the road.

Really, anybody in the top half. We haven't exactly been blowing people out of the water. We have to play 3 of the top 5 on the road, @WU, @CSU, and @CCU. I don't think we'd be surprised to lose any or all of those.

Our chances to lose from here on out:

1. @CCU
2. @WU
3. @CSU
4. UNCA
5. @VMI
6. @PC

I think we beat GW, HPU, RU at home without much problems. I also think we'll beat both PC and VMI on the road and UNCA at home. We have to beat Coastal if we want #1 and then we would have to have at least a split between WU and CSU. I could see that all happening.

I would say our toughest remaining tests are at Winthrop, and of course, at Coastal. Chuck South has been tough at home against everyone else, but it really seems like we have their number. I think our best bet for some help against Coastal is when they play CSU in Charleston.

Barbour and Corey Law were suspended for a violation of team rules. Barbour for two games, Law indefinitely.

Those are arguably their best 2 players, and they ended an 8 game losing streak without them. I'm telling you guys, in terms of talent/athleticism, HP is up there with anyone in this conference. I'll be surprised if they don't knock off some teams that are ahead of them now before the season is over.

Final score of the Coastal/UNCA game wasn't close but if you didn't actually see the game be a little more selective in your word choice because terms like "destroyed" show that you're simply looking at the final score- it was a 4 point game with just over 7 minutes to play.. UNCA went cold/forced shots/Coastal came up with every 50/50 ball and Coastal made free throws to create the score separation over the last few minutes.. the 26-16 foul comparison tells a little about who got the calls in this one as well & it's not as if UNCA was fouling intentionally the last few minutes- because they weren't.. anyone who actually watched the game would say it was a close game otherwise. I was there and UNCA had chances in this one & simply didn't get it done down the stretch.

Having seen every team (except CSU so far) play- Coastal has the depth that I don't think any other team has.. they have multiple scoring options and play good and bothersome defense- scoring in the paint doesn't come easy against them so you're going to have to shot well to beat them..

Big news for us was getting Jon Moore back early from his injury. We played incredible defense all night, if CSU hadn't hit three 3's in a row late, they would have barely broke 40. I'll take the W. I'll be attendance over there tomorrow evening when the Sea Chickens come calling...I hope we can keep it respectable at least.

With CSU's loss that puts a full 3 games between us and the folks tied for 3rd (UNC-A, CSU, WU)

finishing top 2 would guarantee being the home team every game of the tournament (except against Coastal)

I know that...we'd still be the "home" team even at a neutral site (which unless the games were at Vines it would be)
