through 6 games you expect a bunch of freshmen to be able to do that on a consistent basis? this isn't high school, might as well get used to it, it happens when you play a bunch of freshmen at the college level...

Actually, they were all correct.

69-59 as Seth made a layup and was fouled.

67-59 Referees changed the call and said no basket and took the points off the board.

68-59 Seth made 1 of 2 free throws.

4-16 is an off night by anyone's standards, that's only 25% shooting...

It was obviously a joke. You can't really teach a team how to kill another team. Its not a very good game plan.

Great game for LU. There were a few times where I thought we were going to take ourselves out of it...and we fought back.

Should be fun game against Clemson.

So im reading all these posts and i have to say i dont agree at all with alot of you. today we played like CRAP!! yes, GWU played good, but why was jessie having to be in the paint so much our guys weren't playing their position!! toward the end of the game we played great that was the liberty ive been seeing and even when we had that come back in the middle of the game we played the way we had been but once our guys stopped playing their positions we lost it!!!

The team that played today WONT BEAT CLEMSON if they play the way they did today. VERY disappointed!!

dude we won the game and more importantly we are 1-1 in the big south and not 0-2. It was a close game and we are winning them thus far. a few years ago we would lose a lot of close games.

and its a bunch of freshmen...I thought defensively we played solid...with the kind of defense we play though it allows for offensive rebounds...most of the time we are in decent position...there were lapses, no doubt...but overall and decent defensive game...

now on offense, way, way way too careless with the ball...I don't know the stats on turnovers, but it appeared to be a lot...

down the stretch we came together a bit, which was good to see

5-1...I'll take it

as do I...there is plenty of room for improvement...but its not like this was some crap team we were playing...Gardner Webb is a decent team...down the stretch we did what it took to win the game, which is good to see from a team full of freshmen

Your post absolutely SCREAMS ignorance about the game of basketball. What the frap does "playing their position" mean? They are playing BASKETBALL. When you play BASKETBALL, sometimes guards go in the paint and forwards shoot the 3. Our 2 best shooters shot a combined 6-24, and we beat a team that is picked to finish ahead of us. We did it mainly with effort and grit, and I don't call that CRAP!

Must be a Freshman.

I've been very impressed with the amount of turnovers our team has been committing. We must average around 12 or 13 a game which is good regardless of the level of play not too mention all your primarily ball handlers are freshman.

Bill Weaver earned a spot in the regular rotation today. Those of you that didn't get to see the game you missed that. He is a very smart player, doesn't hurt you, and has solid production. Also, Johnny had his best game of his young career although at times he gets a little out of control. I guess that will happen at times since he is still a freshman. Jesse had a couple of dumb mistakes, but still a good overall game. Brolin was not scoring much, but played awesome on defense and rebounding. Seth and Anthony played off of each other very well today.

Good win. Now let's finish off the out of conference part of our schedule positively.

Gardner Webb is a heck of a team. That will be noticed by the entire conference by time the season is over.

After the game I spoke with RM and I told him that was a good win...he said "You have no idea, this is a great basketball team"

I agree Manson...I think they'll have some big wins before its all said and done

We pulled out a win against a good team today, some freshman mistakes, but as many have said before that is to be expected.
I think the plays that RMK called in the last 90 seconds of that game to get Smitty those 3's were brilliant...especially the second one where it looked like we were running just a straight up isolation for Seth, but then had a quick screen towards the end of the shot clock to get Smitty open...I could be wrong and it could just be that he got open due to bad defense, but to me they looked like some very well-called plays.

The coach always looks brilliant when the player makes the shots!

Smitty played like a POY tonight.

After the UNCA game, I said we needed someone to step up and be an on the floor leader because it wasn't in Smitty's personality. Since then, I've been very impressed with Ant's leadership. He's not the talkative, vocal leader but he's been a leader in his play. Last year there were games where he would disappear but this year's he's been there night in and night out. He has led by example the last five games and it is something that we desperately needed. I originally was talking about the vocal leader, but I didn't realize how much we needed that leader by example and Smitty's proved to me at least that he's definitely the man for that job.

Give credit to Kyle Ohman, he battled once again tonight down low. His 13 rebounds were huge for us. On a night when his shot wasn't falling, he found a way to really contribute towards the win.

This team really has a lot of potential. They found a way to win tonight when their shots would not fall. Seth was off as well as Kyle. It proves that this team has almost a knack for winning which we haven't seen in the recent years. We are young, so I don't expect us to be very consistent. But this team does know how to win the close ones! Do not overlook GW either, they are one of the best teams in our conference.

Impressive hard fought win against a top conference opponent. This team is building a reputation for stepping up and finishing strong in the final lap of each game. Gotta love the character and personality of this team.

Ohman was doing his best Charles Barkley impersonation, grabbing 14 rebounds with his 6'4" frame.

Let's do the math...

LU beat G-W by 9, which beat Radford by 20, which beat Winthrop by 21, so LU should be able to beat Winthrop by 50.
