Obviously you never saw LU's "basketball in hell" court design in the late 90s. I wish I could find a picture of it.
I think I can safely say that flameshaw saw that court many times.

I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes something is so over-the-top awful that it becomes awesome. That;s how i felt about the court back in the day.

The FlameNation guys dropped Driscoll's name this morning. I suspect we will start hearing some new names start trickling out in the coming weeks as teams have their seasons come to a conclusion.

The "basketball in hell" concept would have worked if the graphic was alot better. The fire in the Flames Nation logo was made by a graphic designer. The fire in our "basketball in hell" design was made by a five-year-old.

We'll just say the concept was ahead of its time.

I did see the Big Ball many, many times for sure and it was awful. Still the one I saw today was worse. I know it is hard to believe.
Hope we do get some new names popping to the surface in the next week or so as well. Excited to see who we end up with.

Just saw a Matt Driscoll interview at half of VCU Dayton. High energy guy. Couldn't sit still! Had 7+ players who had a game of 20+ points. They shoot the three--a lot. They call it "Birds of Tre". I like him.

Um, it's not just HBCU's where smack talk is part of the rivalries between schools, and I'm sure stupid comments made by people employed by a university's athletic department is not endemic to HBCU's.

One contrast between Moton and Driscoll is that Driscoll has built his success without JUCO transfers. A strategy I'm partial to after living through some of the past few seasons at LU.

I'd actually like to see LU pick up some jucos. It can improve your team quickly. Of course, I'm partial to Moton.

I believe when RD took over after Hankinson...he added a couple of jucos and we went from last to third in the conference in one year. We lost in the semifinals to Radford when mantlo couldn't get a layup to go...but Gabe had a monster dynk in that game...weren't both jucos?

I know the drill...

I am going to let this Self Reporting suffice. However, the condition of your parol is to re-examine your post and look for ways you could have avoided the transgression in the first place.

Yep. ANTHONY GRANT. Great character. Good Christian. Good pedigree and experience in the state. You really couldn't ask for a better fit IMO. No one could win at UA and he had some bad breaks.

If all of that is true this guy should be our coach

His name was more than mentioned. Florida's plane was on it's way to pick Grant up.

I don't know much about Grant's faith, but he is a high character guy, and he knows how to win at the mid-major level. Like Gill, someone else would be paying him quite a bit for a couple of years. Actually has a lot in common with Gill.

That's what I thought as well where this feels like the Gill hire. Grant was one of the hottest coaches a few years back due to the VCU making the run when they beat Duke. Goes to a football school to coach basketball where as Gill goes to a basketball school to coach football. Looking at their schedule this year and since he's been there, i'm not sure why they let him go so quick unless they have someone else lined up. The one thing that that concerns me is what he was making at Bama-it would be tough to match or come close.

Wow, what a bonehead move by Bama. If they think they can find a better coach than Grant to come there and be the red headed stepchild to Saban, they are delusional. Shaka Smart is a really good coach, but he is where he is in the current college coaching pantheon based mainly on a tourney run he made with players who came to VCU to play for Anthony Grant. I would think every high major program with an opening will be calling him, but if he is at all interested, we should do everything we can to get him. Hands down the best coach who's name has come up to date, plus he is under contract with Bama til 2019, so he actually would be a cheap hire for the next few years a la RMK and Gill.

Gottfried's overall record with the Tide was a little better than Grant's, but Grant actually had a better winning % in the SEC. "A lot" less resources? How so?

Fat Chance Grant comes to LU... he can be patient 3 years of cash and Billy D to pick up the phone for him.

Keep dreaming Flamers!
A bit of a long shot perhaps, but you never know. Maybe he decides he wants a house with a swimming pool. 8)

It's a long shot, but that search firm better at least contact him or they don't deserve their money. We had to sell Gill on the idea of coming here. Let's at least make the attempt.
