Alex Mclean is averaging 16pts 9rebs. Are you serious? KO works hard and can on occasion make a few shots. he is a role player and needs to feed the post.

Thats fine that so many of you are doubting Kyle Ohman. I played against KO in high school, and I figured he would be a good D2 player. Then people at Liberty doubted he could make the team. Then people doubted he would ever see playing time. Looks like he has answered all those doubts pretty well. He will continue to prove you guys wrong in the future.I have gone to basically every game for three years now. The flame fan club has been an interesting development, and I happy to see all of you have so many opinions. However, most of you are so fat and retarded looking I would doubt if any of you ever played basketball after the age of 5. Honestly I am surprised most of you can even get off the couch and find you way to the arena.

That last part is more true than you might think. Except I don't have a couch.

It's been a while since I have posted after games but I do think most of the observations here have made me laugh tonight. There is no bigger Monroe fan than me. I like the kid as a human being 1st but I enjoy the skill set he brings. The problem is he is playing lost right now and seems out of his element when he gets in. Putting him in against those athletic forwards on WU would have been disastrous IMO. Rebounding is about pursuit of the basketball, not size unless you are talking about middle school ball. The best rebounders in the league are 6-5 Reggie Williams, Ace and 6-5 Arizona Reid. It doesn't matter who they go against or how big the opponent is, they get boards. There is no one person to blame this loss on. It was a combination of things:

Foul Trouble in the backcourt: - TJ and BJ were in trouble most of the second half. Due in part to the WU defense stepping in and really denying penetration. Chris Gaynor is considered the best PG in mid major hoops and the best in the big south for a reason. He is a quick on ball defender and he bothered TJ along with the defensive scheme they ran.

Ace was out numbered: Harris, Taj, Valentine, Mantoris Robinson, Corbin and even Andy Beuchert guarded Ace. They wore him down and they are just as athletic as he is and just as strong. Ace is better than most of those guys but it takes its toll on you going against all of those guys.

Smitty didn't really play well: Some of you hit it on the head with this one. He disappeared last night for long stretches. He got some good looks but the shot wasn't falling. Everyone has off nights and last night was his.

Winthrop: Fellas, they know how to win games on the road, they know how to win important games and they wanted it more than Liberty last night. They still have 4 seniors and they in my opinion are the team to beat. They are going to be a tough out in the tournament no matter where it is played. Their athleticism was a bit overwhelming at times especially on the offensive glass.

As far as KO is concerned, I didn't think he played that poorly. Yes he is guardable but McKay's offense requires everyone to be able to put it on the floor and pass and catch and shoot. They all do it pretty well for the most part but last night Winthrop's defense was disruptive. Liberty is not a big scorng team and WU is a really good defensive team so we expected Liberty to struggle to get points. I still think WU is beatable but it is going to be tough. My 2 cents.

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out down the stretch. With Asheville losing tonight all spots are up for grabs. Each team seems to have a weakness that can be exploited. WU is playing well and finally getting all it's guys back (harris back is big), but I could shoot free throws better blindfolded. Asheville simply doesn't play defense. High Point is dependent on Jefferson and Reid scoring 40-45 combined for them to have a chance. LU seems pretty dependent on Bannister having a good game. Coastal needs Leisure suit Larry to be hot and get some good bounces on the boards. VMI may even come back into play with Reggie back.

Scar, thanks for your professional voice of reason after so many fans provided their emotional-but-not-so-professional opinons.
In other words, SCAR is Study of Play Basketball vs. the rest of us :blahblah :dontgetit :blahblah :banghead

No reason for WU to lose before a home date against the Bulldogs, which should prove huge.

UNCA will host VMI and CCU, both loseable with the way they are playing.

HPU is at CCU and at VMI on a Saturday (which means Cadets in attendance).

We are at CCU, which will really show us where we are at as a team. A win there would be big. Road wins are hard for us.

But HPU, UNCA, WU, and LU are done playing each other save for that one game, so everyone needs to take care of the games they "should" win, or else things get very interesting.

First, last year he was my favorite player and I always wished he got more time. This year he showed us why he deserves it. He does. He hustles and he can hit the 3 when open. Hes developing a quicker release (MUCH MUCH faster than in October). His cocky attitude that is is slowly developing is getting on ppl's nerves here. We also wish he didnt foul so much. 5 of the 10 conf games hes had at least 4 fouls. If he misses the first two three's he attempts its going to be a rough game for him. Hes either hot or not, and if hes not shooting well, he isnt of much use getting 20 minutes a game. When hes on, hell give you 3-5 or 4-9 or 2-3, but if not youre looking at 0-3, 1-6, and at that point, we are too inconsistent of a team to give him 20 minutes in a close game when hes cold.

No one here is saying he shouldnt be where he is, we just wish he was the old Kyle Ohman. He walks aroung practice like he owns the place. His stunt at UNCA should not be overlooked and although Ritchie dealt with it you can see the air pumping into his head.

Now Im not sure what the fat remark was for. That's 5th grade material man. And by the way, welcome to flamefans.com. We hope you enjoy your stay and we also hope you are more than just "Kyle's Boy" and you actually have something to contribute. Nothing personal, just theres too many lurkers who are here to simply pick a fight and we hope you guys arent one of them

I don't think their win tonight means as much as you think it does.

At CCU and at VMI on a Cadet day are tough games.

If UNCA is going to get the first seed right now, Winthrop 2nd, High Point 3rd, Liberty 4th... I'd rather get one home game and play UNCA in round 2 than be a 3 seed and play Winthrop in round 2. Either way as a 3 or 4 seed, we're not getting a second home game.

well a 3 seed would give us the outside shot at the #1 being knocked off, and playing the 4 or lower in the championship game. aka 2 neutral court games as opposed to playing the 1 at home, which would be tough.

Time for education: if UNCA is 1 and Winthrop is 2, our second round game IS GUANRENTEEED to be played in Asheville regardless of what seed we are. If we are the 3 seed, we play Winthrop at Asheville. If we are 4 seed, we play Asheville at Asheville.

Would you rather have Winthrop in a Neutral Court
Or
would you rather have Asheville at Asheville?

I understand what you are saying, and you seem to be smarter than most of the guys on here that post ridiculous things. I understand Kyle is a shooter, and he is not going to be on every game, but you don't pull a good shooter just because he started slow. The same thing could be said of Anthony Smith. He is either on fire or ice cold, but you don't pull him out of a game because you never know when he will go off. In addition, I think Kyle does the little things that a lot of casual fans do not notice. He takes more charges than anyone else on the team. He gets on the floor and picks up loose balls. He even gets more blocks than you would expect him to. Remember the ECU game when he got a block and rebound to save the game for us. I also understand what you are saying about him being passionate. However, no one on the team resents Kyle for this, and you need that one guy on a team that will bring that fire every night even if it is a bit too much some times. I would take his attitude over T.J. Anthony or Alex. T.J. Those three have some attitude problems that have hurt the team on the court, especially at Radford. So, I think he is plenty worth the twenty minutes he gets, and he is not even costing this school a scholarship. Kyle is doing this for free, while Russell, Armon, Nathan, and Justin are on full rides and not doing much if anything at all.

I'll agree with that.... I don't think Ohman is the savior of this team. I think Justin Holland is better.

T.J. has a chip on his shoulder at all times. He did get kicked out of UVA. He tried to start a fight during the game last night. Ant seems to not care what is going on. Ace cries about every call, and can't handle adversity. In addition he goes nuts anytime he does anything good at all. You got on Kyle for that, so you got to get on Ace for the same thing.
