If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames as they move into the Ritchie McKay era for the 2nd time.

Seems to me all the posts asking to fire Layer have mysteriously gone missing on the Facebook basketball page...

Ha. Why even bother with it. Im starting to worry we may have to deal with this another year if they are that sensitive to criticism about layer.

And why wouldn't they? Do you honestly think any official channel is going to allow there to be negative comments like that on there? It's called PR.

Along with an inordinate amount of pictures of Drew Smith there were still a couple of Fire Layer type statements up there

I can't reiterate this enough: that message was not a Jeff thing. That message was an AD's wife not knowing when to stay quiet.
I don't actually believe Jeff told her to send that message. I mostly just thought it was completely out of line for her to be messaging me. I have zero affiliation with the basketball team anymore.

Layer is a head basketball coach. It's pretty well understood that a coach of anything will receive criticism. Even if you think the one doing the criticizing isn't qualified to be doing so, you don't send that person private messages either. If anything it's just weird and reflects badly on the university.

If I were JB I would be embarrassed. Get off of twitter if you can't handle that crap. Geez.

There's a difference between PR and censorship. Though I dont dispute that they have to right to remove what they wish, I'll also keep it in mind when they ask for a donation down the road.

That's not a liberty only kind of policy. I don't blame them for not wanting negative talk on their public pages. It makes complete sense but when you continually get ticked off at what you see on a dumb message board and posts on Twitter then you clearly have not learned what being FBS ready means. When we go FBS for real the pressure and public criticism will go up. May as well get use to now.

I'm actually surprised people are this shocked these kind of tweets exist. They've been happening for years.

for me it is disbelief that it continues to happen.

Umm, the Liberty Champion has been censored for years. Just an FYI...

I also got some tweets from someone saying that if I were a fan, I should support the team and stop bashing them.

Somehow I'm not a fan for thinking this basketball team is the worst in Liberty history... Even though I'm in the Flames Club and I've been to all but one home game this year, which is more than the typical Liberty student.

Also, don't worry about the Barber's. Jeff has blocked me on Twitter (I've never tweeted him), and he' "fired" me before for being critical of Randy D. when I was in school (though admittedly I deserved it).

Times must have changed. They would take open pot shots on how bad the football team was while I was there

Only time I've ever had someone message me was a friend I knew on the football team who didn't like what I had to say. Granted I used to be much more obnoxious but to this day I still don't really care. I always speak my mind on anything.

Censorship in print form is much more expected than electronically. You can sweep all the dirt under the rug, but at some point that rug itself is gonna get dusty. I know it's a mute point but it's pathetic to even have apologists and spin doctors try to convince us otherwise.

I've been called to be fired on a public forum on multiple occasions. Those situations don't really bother you that much. It's simply people who can't relate to your work making blanket statements about your job performance, which of course they are not qualified to fill. Big whoop.

But I'd be ticked if someone within the organization pulled what Donna did.

Censorship over Dale's job is necessary and expected on facebook. That's why we have flamefans.

Jack, when were you there? I wrote for them in 2005, during the disastrous 1-10 season. We all had to find some way to "be positive," about it.

If youre going to keep shooting your mouth off and being a d----- about it then yeah nothing else matters...

Look, I'm one of the bigger "koolaid drinkers" on the board, but I'm about as frustrated as the rest of you, if not more so, because I'm running out of positives to look for in this group. That said, I know that at the end of the day, I'm a fan. I'm not a player, so I don't have to drag myself out of bed for another morning weight room session as a losing streak grows. I'm not the head coach sitting in his office, looking for answers that never seem to come, no matter what he does. I'm not the athletic director who has to read fan emails and comments "bashing the team" because of the first two. Nobody here is any less of a fan for it, but at the end of every day, we are all still just fans.
