yeah Baby Judas was the worst that came to mind...I kinda thought that was clever personally...but in all seriousness he'll hear about a million times worse going to Maryland as the visiting team so I hope that didnt offend him

So...how would you feel if one of your Honors students transferred out to a higher ranked institution?
It wouldn't be nearly as big of a deal. That person didn't use us. That person likely had other options out of high school and turned them down to come here. We were Seth's only choice besides Davidson. He's said that himself. Then he got national attention and bolted.

Not good--and I certainly wouldn't be rooting for that school or pulling for their Quiz Bowl team. :nono

As Thomas Hardy said, they are now my FOE: "Because he was my foe. / Just so; my foe of course he was; / That's clear enough."

Man, what a game! I actually fell over a couch in a rush to call a fellow Duke fan and let them know that those fur wearing "scholarship" athletes had been taken DOWN!!!
That game solidified my respect for Duke and Coach K, in the same way that the NC Stae/Houston game in the early 80's turned me into a BB fan.

I might end up having to cheer for the guy if he did end up at Duke, but I can't really imagine that he will end up there.

If you weren’t at Flames Club yesterday. Ritchie McKay was as classy as they come. He did not dwell on Seth and Brolin’s departure. He did not ignore or run away from the subject either. The one thing he said that stuck out the most for me, which is something I’d been feeling and thinking too, is that he didn’t want anyone to be bitter about this. He wants us to wish Seth well and who knows, if Seth were to go on and do well, he would shed light on Liberty and look back and praise Liberty for what he was able to learn in the little time that he was here. Ritchie continued to say that he’s not just saying he’s excited about the future of Liberty Basketball just to appease the situation, but in his heart, he has a peace and excitement about the kids we have and the new kids coming in. By this time I was in tears ~ tears that turned from sadness to joy.

We truly want people here at Liberty because they love Liberty, that’s a no brainer. I’m convinced that Ritchie McKay loves Liberty and who shouldn’t display his love more for his school/team than the leader himself.

In sort of the same subject, did anybody watch Tyler Breams interview last night on WSET,Ch. 13?? Now there’s a good example of one who truly loves Liberty, one who wants to be at Liberty and one who’s going to shine for Liberty.

We are Liberty
WE WILL PREVAIL
We are the Liberty Flames

I haven't really chimed in on this one, but I actually feel pretty hurt over this whole thing. Granted, I don't know the guy personally or anything, but it actually felt like a personal jab to me as a loyal fan. I have followed this team since I was in 9th grade and I actually pulled a Ferris Bueller the day we played Carolina in '94 so I could watch the game. I think I might have missed 5 home games my entire career at LU and those were all due to track meets.

I say all of that to say that I really feel betrayed right now. I mean, take a guy like Josh McDougal. Everyone in the world thought he was nuts to come to Liberty and many people told him to transfer while he was here so he could get "real" coaching and have "real" opportunities after he graduated. He never disowned the school and, as we all know, went on to win a national championship. Seth is good, but the two don't even come close to comparing in their respective sports.

Basically, I feel like he gave us the finger after telling everyone how much he loved the school and coach mck. So, my vote on this one went for the "I'm bitter and I hope you never score another point" choice.

If said person sent a press release to the papers announcing he wasn't changing his major but feels he's just too smart for the school or the conference and his professors aren't up to the academic level he expects and his classmates, which he relies on in group projects, aren't as smart as him so therefore he's leaving - you bet there'd be hard feelings and justifiably so.

Academics, sports and life in general - its the way you handle it that matters.

you and I and everyone else knows that if Duke wins a national championship(highly unlikely in the first place) That it won't be because of curry.

Like I said in another thread, I don't think he'll play much. If he surprises us all though, who knows?

Haha. It was well-known that Grand Mama and the others were taking in that Vegas money to fail! lol. It's a shame too because I thought they were the best b-ball team of all time! I am a little biased though.

Exactly! :) They haven't been to the Elite 8 in 3,000 Dookie years. (That's an eternity to the rest of the common folk, lol). Coach K can still coach, but he needs more Elton Brand type of players to control the paint.

Hey flames1971, don't take in personal but Duke is sort of like the Yankees - you either love them or you hate them! I respect their tradition and all, but why do ALL of their players take so many "Shane Battier" charges? :P

I think the sadness of his leaving is that he had the potential to bring this program to the next level. Along with a couple other pieces to the puzzle. Too bad for us. Count me as an apathetic observer to his college career from now on.

I fall into that category. The reason I believe this to be true is after you get out of the Liberty environment, you realize how much of a joke most of our athletic programs are. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Liberty and had an AWESOME time in the mid to late 90's watching our teams, but when it comes down to it, we haven't achieved anything worth discussing in the history of our program outside of the women's basketball run a few years back. Football has never made the playoffs, I think men's basketball has won the Big South tourney twice? The guys on PTI said it best when they basically called us one of the lower end conferences. When Seth Curry left, it was TOTALLY understandable from someone who isn't living in the Liberty environment any longer. I wouldn't rip into a co-worker that left a small company to work at a Fortune 500 company, even if it was a lateral move or possibly he lost a little salary. I understand those who are close to the situation being bitter, but I think it often just a reality check of who we are right now. We are a school that 95%+ of the nation/recruits knows little to nothing about. We haven't done anything to get their attention. Perhaps our newer coaching staffs (football and basketball) will change that (I do hope they can), but the reality of now trumps the potential of tomorrow at the time of Seth's transfer.

This is were I am. I think recruits may now look at Curry's situation and see the benefit of playing at a smaller school with the option of either: 1) staying 4 years and graduating from Liberty or a lesser D-I program like Liberty, or 2) possibly transferring into a bigger program after a year or two.

I've seen Liberty on ESPN SEVERAL times this season because of Curry. IMO this CANNOT be bad for our recruiting!
