I wasn’t rolling my eyes at the win, I was rolling my eyes at your logic. That was a great win for Va Tech, but in no way does that win mean we wouldn’t have a shot to beat them. Sure, we wouldn’t be favored, and if we played them ten times we would be doing good if we won twice.

But good wins and bad losses is the only way you can measure a team...so that great win tells a pretty good story about our odds being decreased by quite a bit....but yes we still have a shot...we'd have a shot if we were to play the Lakers, we have a shot against anyone

The topic of the thread has to do with "best team in the state", and IMHO VT has made a very compelling argument for themselves in the past week.

One thing about this young LU team is that while they have lost some, they have played EVERYBODY tough (except Ashville, and I think we've pretty much agreed to give them a Mulligan on that one). As a result, I wouldn't put it past them to beat the Hokies on any given night, but it would definately be a major upset.

Oddly enough, there are two teams from the state of Virginia that sit atop the Big South conference. That is truly the task at hand for this team, and until we can move past them, there should be no specualtion regarding our status as the best in the state.

There's no kool-aid. It's the same thing that fans from VCU, Mason, VMI, and even JMU/Radford should be thinking. They can beat any team in this state. There is some very good basketball being playing in Virginia right now. I'm not saying that any of those six teams would beat VT or UVA on a regular basis, but it wouldn't be an absolute shocker if any of them won a game.

VA Tech beating Wake is a VERY good win. However, let's keep things in perspective here. Virginia Tech lost to Georgia, and I'm not alone in believing that this year's Georgia squad is one of the worst seen in the SEC in many, many years, and if not for Indiana, one could make a good argument that they are THE worst BCS conference team this year. Georgia is the third worst ranked BCS conference school according to Pomeroy's ratings - Georgia is 172, Colorado 184, and Indiana 237.

eh, i just don't think that we have the firepower to beat Mason right now, as was evidenced by our 16 pt loss earlier this season on their home court. I think a match-up with Liberty would be a great game that would come right down to the wire. VCU i feel is even better than Mason, and may win the CAA. I feel like we could beat VMI, and we already beat Radford early in the year, when we weren't playing that well. UVa can be beat if we could contain Landesburg defensively, and Tech if we take care of the basketball.
