If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames as they move into the Ritchie McKay era for the 2nd time.

There was a lot to like about the way Brolin played Monday night. Dunks are always cool of course, but I was most impressed by the move he made coming across the lane and rising up over everyone for the little 10 foot jumper. That is the kind of skill that can set him apart from just another guy who can jump.

6. Virginia Military
Chavis Holmes is averaging 22 a game and will be the only challenge to Liberty’s Seth Curry for Big South MVP.

10. Liberty
I would never rank two teams from the Big South in my top ten mid majors unless I absolutely had to. Virginia Military is scoring nearly 100 points a game and Liberty has a kid with the last name Curry averaging 20 points per game. He just so happens to be the son of Del Curry and younger brother of Stephen Curry and he is shaping up to follow in his brother’s footsteps. He is getting better every game and giving Liberty a legitimate chance at going dancing for the first time in god knows how long. I wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of alien conspiracy showed up in the tabloids about the Curry family. Has anyone seen their mom?

My Top Ten Mid Major Players (I like the way that rhymes lol!):
1. Stephen Curry, G Davidson
2. Eric Maynor G, Virginia Commonwealth
3. Jeremy Pargo G, Gonzaga
4. Seth Curry G, Liberty

My Top 5 Future NBA Stars:
1. Stephen Curry
2. Eric Maynor
3. Austin Daye
4. Jeremy Pargo
5. Seth Curry

They are even dropping Seth Curry's name in the UVa-Carolina game on ESPN.

The conference that flaunted college basketball's tallest player and last year's leading scorer is sending a message to viewers: Even though Kenny George and Reggie Williams are out of college basketball, there is still reason to watch Big South basketball (even after Chavis and Travis Holmes graduate at the end of this season).

Seth Curry and Keith Gabriel will be around for three more seasons after 2008-09 and will keep the Big South entertaining to watch.

You all know Stephen Curry, and by now lots of you know his younger brother, Seth, who plays for Coach McKay at Liberty University.

Somehow, Lil Curry, as I like to call him, did not receive any attention from the media before the season started. In fact, he still has not been the topic of any discussion—outside of Big South country—despite averaging 20.1 points per game and shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from long range.

Another writer expounding wisdom about our conference who doesn't have a clue. Chavis Holmes may not even be the best player with his exact genetic makeup playing for VMI. His brother doesn't score quite as much, but is better in other areas, and the voters know by now to subtract about 5 points and 3 rebounds from any VMI player's stats to get a real idea of what they have done. Jamarco Warren and Smitty are also very much in the POY running, and there may be some others before the season is over

A VMI message board poster is talking trash about Seth:
UNCA plays in a highschool gym, that kid is soft.

I think the VMI fan was saying that if Seth couldn't handle the crowd noise at Asheville that VMI's gym would be a much harsher environment in which to play.

If Liberty can earn a spot in the NCAA tournment, look for them to spring a possible upset. Not only do they have Curry leading them, they have two other players who average double figure scoring. If Curry gets hot, they will spring an upset in the first round, but will likely not make it past the first weekend.

He's becoming the most talked-about freshman in college basketball, and Seth Curry showed the largest crowd in VMI history, 5,029, that the hype is warranted.

The sensational freshman scored a career-high 35 points Saturday and led Liberty (13-6, 4-3 Big South) to a 91-80 win over Virginia Military Institute, ending the Keydets' 10-game winning streak.

Also brings to light how poor the so-called recruiting "experts" are too.

http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p= ... id=2929420 Seth Curry, not even ranked at his position
http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p= ... id=1159193 Stephen Curry, only ranked 36th

and to bring an egregiously bad example to the table...

Says Jodie Meeks needed to work on his 3-point range. He was a good three point shooter ever since he stepped foot on the Kentucky campus. Some scouts also said he isn't even a D1 player...

Seth is named Big South Player of the week this week:

http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 37&TeamID=
The award is Curry’s second player of the week honor this year and third weekly award.

This award marks the first time a Liberty player has been named Big South Player of the Week multiple times in a season since Leo Lightbourne earned the distinction twice during the 2004-05 season.

Liberty guard Seth Curry, the little brother of Davidson all-American Stephen, continues to wow the Big South Conference. Seth was named the league's player of the week today after helping the Flames to two victories.

Curry scored 15 points in a win over Coastal Carolina, then reached his career high with 35 as Liberty knocked off first-place VMI.

Player who deserves improper benefits: A Curry scored 35 points on Saturday, but it wasn't Stephen. Nope, it was Seth (Stephen's little brother), who made 10 of 15 shots for a career-high 35 in Liberty's 91-80 win at VMI. So if you're keeping track, the Curry brothers combined for 63 points this weekend (Stephen got 28 in Davidson's 89-68 win at Georgia Southern), and it still seems wild that no high-major programs really wanted either of the two.
