That was one heck of a comeback effort for G/W on our home floor. VMI will be tough as they kicked the crap out of us the last time we played them so we have our work cut out for us.

JE said it again at the end of the broadcast. He said all games including the championship at the Dedmon ctr. Someone correct him!

As much as I would love the finals in the Vines...it would be played in front of a BUNCH of empty seats with the students gone.

Give credit to GWU for fighting hard in the second half and not giving in to the fight. They could have very well tanked but they hung tough and made it in to a game at the finish.

We better bring it Thursday night. I have learned over the last few years to strongly dislike (christian substitute for hate) VMI in football and basketball. Isn't this conference fun!

I think that Coach McKay and the boys are very aware of the last meeting Steve...

Stat of the night
FT
G-W 16-23
LU 21-25 including 17-19 in the final 2:23 (as noted before Tyler Baker 6-6)

Why did everything have to be "sterilized" just because the mothership is running things. The PA guy had to be monotone for both teams. No fire. There was just a lot of atmosphere pieces missing. That's the whole point of playing at home I thought.

Who was sterilized. I thought that the announcers did ok.

I actually am going to take the opposite view on the Radford UNCA game, sorta. While I think it might be slightly easier to take out UNCA in the championship game, another part of me knows we can beat Radford at their place. Then we would have taken out the 1 and 2 seed on the way to the NCAA Tourney. That's a roll!

While I like the attitude - Radford still scares me with their size inside. we beat them last Saturday - but we really don't match up well. Plus - what's the chance of beating them twice on their home floor in a week? We can beat them - but I like our chances with UNCA - was hoping to play Coastal Thursday too for that matter.

Are you talking about the TV guys? I'm talking about the guy on the PA in the arena that tells you who just scored or who just fouled. Normally he says things to get people hyped up when we score, and says things very boringly when the other team scores. I don't think he was allowed to do that tonight.

I forgot to mention that. It was odd that it was omitted.

congrats on the win tonight. Let me just say that i was really empressed with the announcers who do the TV feed (Scarborough and i cant remember the other guy) but they were a joy to listen too especially SCAR, did a wonderful job of not being a big homer and kept things in perspective the whole game.

yeah...in all seriousness I thought so too...why does the Big South care if we pray before a game?

Yeah, we do prayer too before games. Odd that it would be left out, you figure the school could stand their ground on that one.

Of course, I've never understood having the national anthem with the teams in the locker room either.

I believe it was Ray with the call and Scar on the color. I'm sure both will appreciate seeing your comments.

I still like our chances vs both VMI and Ratfurd with Jesse back!

I am the Homer of the year for Pete's sake!

i wasnt implying that Mr. Jones was a homer(although i think that having one homer and one who keeps thing in perspective is the best mix). Both were good to listen too. I know how yall felt seeing that lead slip away tonight. PC had a 27pt lead early the other night as well and a 22pt lead at half, and it got down to 7 at point late in the game, thank goodness we pulled it out. Good luck against VMI

Thursday night will be fun to watch no matter who wins. When these two teams meet there is no shortage of offense.

Let me say one thing to start off not really related to tonight....Winthrop is absolutely red hot, and it may just be a blessing we are not on the same side of the bracket with them. I fully expect them to pound UNCA tonight in Asheville. Also, they will not be intimidated playing at Radford Thursday night on a national stage. I look for the Eagles to be in the final.

.....

I'll try to get back on here post-game tonight or tomorrow, win or lose, for some discussion.
Wow- no respect from the G-W guy that we swept this year.. I understand that you guys are new to the Big South & all, but just take note that in the last 10-11 years- Winthrop has only lost to 1 team in Big South tourney play (Since '99 they're like 25-3)... That's right, for all your talk you can thank the Bulldogs of UNCA for that since no one else can/has beat them in the tourney!!

Glad that we didn't get pounded by the red hot team that had to outscore CSU 38-10 in the 2nd half just last week..

Don't count out UNCA (did you hear that Kingaling42?)
Yep- I appreciate the love Sly- I think we're playing well & overcoming the styles of play that we don't always do well with- Like WU & HP who play very physically & try to intimidate guys on the court- we played WU's style tonight, didn't back down from their guys- minus a few random 3's from their guys we had a fairly easy time of the Eagles this evening...

Good game tonight it seems for LU- looked like GW went on quite the run, WU did that a little to us as well, but both teams responded which was good for us to show that we've matured as the season has progressed.. Now we get to see if RU can beat us 3 times this year like WU was going for.. I like they way we match up vs the Highlanders... again, let's see if we've learned anything from the 2 losses to them this year... Go Dogs!!

No disrespect kingaling, I just really thought Winthrop was peaking at the right time, that's all. Really surprised me that we had no upsets at all tonight, and all the games were pretty much blowouts. Yeah, G-W and Winthrop rallied some in the second half, but the games were never really in doubt.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Liberty/UNCA finale. I don't like VMI (although Dugger has a good story) and I have an extreme dislike for any coach with the last name of Greenburg.

Good luck on Thursday at Radford. :nod

Why no love for Reeves? (I'm not that fond of his tactics, but that is for another thread, I'm not that much of a Chuck Burch fan either after the whole probation-fiasco a few years ago either, again, another thread topic for later)

I'm still trying to figure out how G-W lost to PC in women's ball.

Looks like G-W will probably be in the 4/5 game in the womens tourney, so you may get your wish in the second round.

Back to tonight, y'all were up 22-4, and up by 25 late in the first half...never in doubt in my book anyway.
