And by the way, let's not insult Kevin Keys by using his initials. Those are reserved for one man. There is enough hatred towards that KK that I don't wanna get em confused.
I thought that's who they were talking about too. I was going to say I didn't see Kallander there and why would he stop by you guys and tell you the attendance? ??

Is there any chance Evansville doesn't win the whole shebang?

They struggled a bit in their conference after a really good out of conference performance. I think ODU is the team to beat with a healthy Lee.

“We ran into a bit of a buzz saw in the first half,” Dempsey said. “They shot 70 percent. I thought we were competing hard but it seemed everything they threw up went in.”
The Broncs out-scored Liberty 37-32 in the second half and out-rebounded the Flames 26-20 in the final 20 minutes. “I thought we showed our character in the second half,” Dempsey said. “We came out and competed hard to try to make a game out of it. They only shot 30 percent in the second half (10-28) because we never quit. We played defense and rebounded, we just didn’t have enough tonight.”
Comments from Rider's coach.

didn't realize we were the first win of what is obviously the first year of the tourney. Cool.

also interesting:
Smith led all scorers with 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Curry added 19 points and five rebounds, while Ohman chipped 13 points and dishing out four assists. Sanders added 10 points, four rebounds and dropped three assists in 24 minutes of action.

Smith’s night helped the senior pass Liberty great Peter Aluma (1,715) for the second-most points scored by a Flame during the Liberty Division I era. Smith currently has 1,728 points, ranking sixth all-time in the Liberty annals.

Lots of people were chatting about home games and all that. Just some info.... ODU signed a deal to HOST 3 games before the tournament seeds were announced. ODU was offering tickets "to some tournament" for 3 games for season ticket holders on the Friday before selection Sunday.

So I guess we can say with certainty that we will NOT be playing you on Monday. Can't say I'm disappointed. I bet we play JMU on monday in Lynchburg, and if we win and ODU wins we go there for the 3rd game. That's just purely a guess from thin air though.

Some guys on the ODU board came up with the exact same conclusion. You play JMU. If you and ODU wins we meet again at the TED. I think we would play the winner of Belmont/Evansville next (whoever they are?)

Be careful with Belmont. They are a pretty dangerous team. and I don't know much about evansville except the game i watched against them and UNC. They hung pretty well with UNC until mid way through the second half when ty lawson and Tyler H. went off.

Yes, barring a Bradley upset then we would be meeting the Monarchs at the Ted in the semifinals.

I think Bradley is the #1 seed and ODU is the #2 seed. So we should get the lowest seed that is geographically closest to us. So all home games unless we run up against Bradley, as i see it.

excerpts from a recap on the collegeinsider.com website:
Liberty will move on to the round of eight in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament on Monday. The Flames hold a strong possibility to host the quarterfinal round against an opponent that will be determined following final opening round game on Thursday.

Why the bracket secrecy? You need a Rosetta Stone to figure this out.

Call me old fashioned, but I liked tournaments better when you know who / where / when you were playing next. I don't like some Council of Elrond determining behind closed doors who plays when. Last time something like that happened, Maine went to the FCS playoffs.

It's a lot like the old NIT. They're trying to reduce travel costs and missed class time for the players involved. That's what there's so many days between the first and second round. Once the eight teams are finalized, they figure up geographically where those teams are (and who the most likely to move on are) and schedule them so that travel isn't an issue (assuming the top guys win).

I want to see a Belmont/LU matchup. Byrd is a great coach and has built a solid program, the right way too, has loads of honor students on the roster, etc.

Right this minute, although plagued with foul trouble, Belmont is winning at Evansville at halftime 49-35.

I'm sure one of the main reasons why there's so many days between the first and second round is because of the NCAAs.
