Winthrop is not the power that most people think. Although I'd pick them to wind up winning the Conference this season as they did last season (barely, with a better team) Their production this season is coming from all seniors right now. Bad choice of words, should've said barely won the Conference Tournament. I will give them props for last season though, no one else in the Big South could've competed with that Wisconsin team or come close to beating a solid Notre Dame team in the NCAA's. My point is that Winthrop is no Gonzaga like their fans like to think they are. They will struggle to win the BS this year, and will not win it next year.

People have been saying that for 9 years, when it happens, I'll believe it.

WU is relying heavily on 4 scorers, not three though. As for little bench production, that is true, but it has also been against much better competition that the Big South. Freshmen, which is all of WU's bench rarely score a ton for any Winthrop team anyways. The system is very complicated for freshmen to thrive at first. They have played pretty well in the minutes they've had though. I always enjoy this arguement as some WU posters like to harp on that, I guess we should start the bench so they'll produce more

Even if were the 2nd best team in the conf well drop 2 just because were not consistant.

However, Winthrop is tops in this league and I will keep saying they'll win it until they don't.

With that said, we-as always-have the talent to beat Winthrop. This year, we also have the coaching to do it. We just lack depth. Provided our recruits are as good as we talk them up to be, next year our depth shouldn't be a problem.

Okay we are not at Winthrop's level and wont be next year either. Will we get a sneak win in there? maybe. Maybe we somehow end up having their number and beat them a couple times. But we are not nearly as good as them. It wont be for another 2 years that we can even mention conference title and thats if Winthrop slips some more and we pull in a biggie or too. To say we are as talentd but not as deep is to say we have a couple guys who are as good as yours so ha. We CAN beat them but we arent at their level. We cant say "we always have the same amount of talent just bad coaching" just to appease our consciences. They are better than us, and have been for a while now. Are we talented? yes, but lets give them credit for being the team to beat year in year out.

We have a good team, but not one that you can hang your hat on and say well only lose a game to the conference champ, were not there yet. And its easy to say that with our depth and ability to stall its not a stretch to say well lose 3 games. We can beat anybody in our conference but we cant beat everybody.
