HG is absolutely correct. There are some things that the NCAA reviews on an individual basis but how much financial aid a kid can get is not one of them. If they were to start doing that, they would be opening up a very large avenue for abuse.

Yeah, Dunton was there a lot.

OK, weak joke. I know.

TJ
BJ/Anderson
Smith/Campbell
Baker/Porter/Campbell
Ace/Armon/Russ

it seems like everyone forgot about Armon....now that LU has a coach that knows basketball you will all see that Armon will be a decent player

If Armon gets his head right, I could agree with that.

I think your statement applies more to Russ than Armon.

if Russ gets big minutes and performs...move the whole lineup down a slot

if TJ is gone

BJ/Holland
Smith/Anderson
Baker/Campbell
Ace/Porter/Campbell
Russ/Armon

I saw Campbell play here and he doesn't look like an impact player at all...atleast not at the 4

I'm a lot less excited about this team without Brew. I've gone from thinking we have a good shot at taking the league, to thinking we look like a middle tier team. I guess that's what our new coach is for.

I look at it this way: I appreciate Brew and everything he added to the program but, if he's gone, that's one more schollie opened up for McKay.

See this is exactly how i feel as well. We have a ton of scoring to replace so someone is going to have to step up huge for us to compete for the BS championship.

If TJ plays, I still think we can compete for the conference crown. Lack of a true point guard has hurt us for years, and I believe he can make a big impact, providing opportunities for players like Alex, Smitty and Tyler to score more. If he doesn't play, we may have a "rebuilding" year.

Our three top 3pt shooters are back next year. Smith, Baker, and Jenkins averaged around 40% each from the arc. In addtion, we can add Jeremy Anderson into that mix. We're solid at the the two and three, even with the loss of Brewington.

Having Bannister in there as a legitimate floor leader will make a huge difference.

What concerns me is the post positions. We need to add skill and depth. Hopefully, there is a quality big man out there that we can reel in.

Also, some of you guys have already written off Nate Campbell because he doesn't start at Hargrave. Keep in mind that Hargrave is one of the premier prep programs in the country and Campbell is currently backing up a 6-8 250lb player who will be suiting up for Virginia Tech next season. Most of the seniors on that team will be playing in conferences such as the ACC, SEC or Big Ten next season. Campbell could turn out to be something special in our conference.

I agree Paradox... We're the Big South not the Big East... for us to even get this guy we should be very optimistic and excited... Sometimes you can have a situation where a kid doesn't get to shine because flat out he was just in the wrong class... if he was a year older or younger things may have been different... he may be headed to an ACC school... let's not doubt this guy.

That and the fact that there is no way that Brew is going to actually play in the NBA. Maybe some Euro league or the NBDL, but can can you really support a family on a NBDL salary?

He can support his family on a European league salary.

European ballers make some cash. Some make more than NBDLers and some NBAers. I'm sure he'd probably rather make the minimum in the league instead, though.

I didn't mean to give the impression that I don't think Nathan Campbell can play, or that he won't have a good career at LU. Those things remain to be seen, and I pointed out in my earlier post that I understand that Hargrave's entire starting lineup has signed with high-major programs. I just don't think it is wise to project an immediate role for any frosh unless they are an obvious impact player or there is noone returning at their position. Neither is true in this case, so I will "write him off" until he is here and shows he can make an immediate contribution. The same would apply to Jeremy Anderson, or any other recruit RMK may bring in, unless their credentials are such that it is obvious they are an impact player.

One thing Campbell has going for him is the experience of matching up against the other Hargrave studs in practice every day. The downside is that he is coming in with not a lot of recent game experience. In this case, what we have to go on is the evaluation of Dunton and Sherrard that he is good enough to play here. If you look at his HS career, you would say no way is this a D1 prospect.

As far as Campbell goes, we'll have to wait and see. However, McKay will get his first look at Nate Campbell tommorrow. Personally, I think that he can help us at the 4 position. It will be interesting to learn what McKay's thoughts are tommorrow.

McKay and Soucie are high on Jeremy Anderson. He is supposed to contribute right away. So, we should be excited by that.
