If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames as they move into the Ritchie McKay era for the 2nd time.

This was a good game for us. A great test which we will need later in the year. Great production from Jesse, JCS, Minaya and Burris.

I am worried about only having 7 guys to play any significant minutes and 5 of them being guards. That will come back to bite us if we can't find an 8th body, particularly a big.

Nice win! It got a little scary at the end when it seemed like we had it wrapped up with that 15 point lead. NIce team effort. Was Gielo actually playing? Live stats had him in when I thought that he was hurt.

Unfortunately, I couldn't view stats from the iPad (and neither ESPN nor cbssports is showing them).. Can someone post a snapshot of the final stats?

The CAA is one of the better mid-major conferences so this win can only help us going forward

I've got a good friend at W&M and their team is missing 4 of their top 6 rotation players. Still a good win as they played St. John's well with those injuries.

regardless this is still a good win for a team who is trying to find its way with its share of season ending injuries

Baird was much more highly recruited than either of those 2.

Has anyone else noted that Jesse leads the team in rebounding again . . . and Chene is second on the team!!! Our point guards????

Jesse leads because is in the 99th percentile of hustle players to play the game. What is a good indicator is the offensive rebounds of WM bigs. Of the 3 that rotated they had, 2, 1 and the guy off the bench had 3. Our bigs, including Minaya at times, keep them off the glass and allow good hustling guards to pick up those loose rebounds.

Congratulations on the win! The Tribe looks to be in a tailspin and the CAA looks weaker than it has in recent years. Lots of losses in the last couple of days. Nonetheless, the Flames played very well and seemed to control the game for most if not the whole duration of the contest. That is impressive going on the road. Hopefully it's a harbinger of good things to come for your squad.

Good luck to you all this season.

Hey I had the chance to be at the game and was pretty impressed with a few things. Here are some thoughts... Take them or leave them.... (btw... Not my first time here. Previous username was "thelouder")

Burris and JVP have improved a ton. Not sure if it had anything to do with the opponent or not but they looked really good compared to last year. JVP played with a ton of intensity. He was fouled after a put back and he screamed in the guy who fouled hims face.

Chene plays like he knows what he's doing. Stays under control while handling the ball. Had a sick pass in the paint behind his head to Burris that Burris couldnt do anything with but it was sweet.

Speaks plays hard. Made a shot then turned around and stole the ball in the backcourt on the inbounds pass. He seems like a great player. We all know he can score.

Defensively they left the paint open too often. Several wide open passes down the middle that you figure could have been big had W&M been able to make the layups. Haha W&M has the reputation of shooting threes like crazy so I figured try could come back quickly. Thorton single handedly got them back in the game at the end.

Again, just some thoughts. I don't pretend to be a basketball genius, just love LU.

Loved this quote on the W&M message board:
I was surprised to see LU win. Had they not lost three starters to injury, they would have won by 30. When you and I are old, Liberty will be far ahead of W&M in the sports world.
