So....got my tickets for Thursday.

I am more and more impressed with the wisdom Dale Layer showed when he referred to this fast start in conference as "phony".

We won 5 games in a row. Four of them were extremely competitive, and could have gone the other way on the turn of a missed or made shot or a referrees call. Same with the game we lost Saturday.

Now we're talking like we should consider ourselves the 600 pound gorilla of the conference and be all bent out of shape if we were to lose on the road to a team like High Point, which has tons of talent and was picked to finish ahead of us for very valid reasons. I don't buy it. There is a difference between expectations and entitlement.

LU is 5-1 in the BS
HP is 2-3 in the BS

We are the favorite and should be. If we lose it will be a disappointment. It's possible we could lose, but it would still be a disappointment.

Here's my two cents on the matter:

We are doing one thing so far that we have not been doing in conference...winning on the road...we won our first two road games in places that we traditionally havent done that...the Justice Center (UNCA) and Porter Arena (G-W). We have a chance on Thursday to win at the Millis Center where we havent gotten a ton of wins (although a couple years ago we did have that epic comeback in the last couple minutes...I think the video is on youtube somewhere...)...if we can get a win there that would definitely be a step in the right direction...High Point is down this year...and Ive said this in football and I think it bears repeating...we need to go in there, knock them down and step on their throat, which is something we havent really been able to do on the road in quite a while.

I agree with TBGB We should be disappointed with a loss to HPU, home or away. I guess I should have chosen a different word than "steal" although winning on the road in conference (except for RU) could be considered as a "steal."

Anything less than a sweep on this road trip will be disappointing. Not season ending but disappointing.

This conversation is all semantics. Define "disappointed". You really can't. It means different things to different people in different situations. I posted earlier that I will be disappointed if we lose at HP. I just won't be terribly surprised or upset. The fact that HP has not been playing well lately does not mean they are not capable of it, and especially at home (where they are 2-0 in conference). We could play every as well as or better than we did at G-W or UNCA and lose to them.

HP has their top two scorers shooting under 30% from 3, and their post shooting 40% from the line. Combine that with our defense, and there's no reason we should lose, regardless of where this game is played.

Disappointment is when you're the favorite and you don't win. We're the favorite. We need to win.

I agree with oldflame as well. It's all semantics. I do think that overall as fans we need to raise our expectations from where we had them. Especially with the recent news coming out of Conway.

I saw that on the HPU site the other night. It figures that a decent video stream of a road game comes when I am travelling. That happens like 2-3 times a season in the Big South.

Just a heads up, the game is currently being listed as sold out. Any additional tickets (IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE) will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for those in line tomorrow at the Millis Center.

If we can leave the Millis Center 6-1 in conference, I really like our chances to get the #1 seed with the situation being what it is in Conway.

Just picked up a net t-shirt from Universal T's. Talked to the guy at the front counter. He was the basketball manager for the men's team when Jeff Meyer was coach. We talked about the Big South gyms and he said Millis and High Point are pretty nice. Anyways, really excited for this game. Hoping we pick up another road win.

I'm only going to be able to catch the first half of this one. Looking for us to come out crisp and keep the TO's to a minimum (like we have the past two games). I will be watching to see how Sommy looks when he gets a few minutes and of course JVP. My prediction LU wins this one by 8.
