There is a couple of more that I could see leaving as well, either by choice, or with a little help. It happens, not usually at this pace, but we have a new staff, etc. If it would continue at this rate, there may be room for some concern.

It would be very difficult for anyone to say that this year's team was not the best we have had in a long time. I have 100% confidence in RMK and Barbour. We are light years ahead of where we were just a few short years ago in almost every sport. There may be a time in the future where things need to be re-visited, but now is not the time. IMHO.
Johnny is good, he was pretty much a freshman and had one of the fastest first steps I have seen. Tyler can shoot - just needed more opportunities to get his rhythm. Seth is going to be roll player somewhere else that always going to complain about not being the star. I hope no more leave, I even hope Carter would stay at this point.

I just hope this guy has some tricks hes hiding somewhere like Kobe :D

This is insane, all you can get now are JUCO players and not so good high school players... good luck... You have just lost your pipeline to Florida by Brolin leaving and you cutting this kid and Florida is a state you need. Keep him for the pipeline and someone that knows your system for nothing else, bench him idc you need those things.

Let McKay Mayhem 2009 continue...

Yeah, the Pipeline is dead, which is why we have Vanderpol and Perez and Minaya, right?

How can you say the "Florida Pipeline" is dead when we have guys from florida that have been brought in even since Brolin announced his transfer.

The worst thing about all of these transfers is that if Seth, Brolin, and Johnny don't graduate, Liberty could be punished scholarship wise. I think the same rules apply for all college sports nowadays. Could someone help inform me of the rules if players don't graduate?

I think as long as no one leaves and our freshmen stay then we are full.

Leaving:
Curry
Stephene
Smith
Floyd

Coming in:
Perez
Vander pol
Barnes
Soko

Im sure this is posted somewhere else but I just want to make sure im right?

Sounds about right. I would assume that Spencer gets Johnny's scholly, right?

No, that is not correct. James does not automatically get a scholly. I doubt he will, but there is a chance I guess.

And we are getting a scholarship back from our penalty, we actually will have an open spot if Johnny does in fact leave.

Not true when dealing with the APR if an athlete leaves eligible it is less of a penalty then if they were to be academically ineligible...and any player that wants to actually continue his career would try and do that. If the graduate from another institution then that's OK too

Johnny was two weeks younger than Anthony. He was the second oldest player on the team. A first step means nothing when you play scared.

coolhandluke wrote:And we probably will lose a few scholly's in a few years. But if Brolin and Johnny both land somewhere else and end up graduating, then we should be fine. I think BJ Jenkins will graduate. Seth comes from an academic family, plus he has to sit out a year, so he should get a degree. And Brolin is too good to not land at another school. Hopefully he will get a degree too. Soup stayed here and should graduate. So Johnny is the one guy I am worried about a little bit. Maybe he'll go to a D2 school and finish up...
The difference in these guys leaving, and where we have had guys leave in the past, is that these are leaving in good academic standing. In the past, we would have guys choose to transfer who would not have been eligible or who were borderline. That's what kills an APR. These guys are all academically eligible and on track to graduate. Johnny was on the Dean's List last year. Seth is a smart kid. Brolin is working his butt off to get good grades right now.

Your so right SJ...I was watching him this last game...he's playing defense and a player goes up to check in he takes his eyes off the defender (with the ball) to see who it was...I laughed...he's a nervous wreck out there...so scared to make mistakes

That's the dirty side of college athletics. Kids get cut every year. I hate it for them. Every coach in every sport at every school does this from year to year.
Yep yep yep

And as for APR, if a player transfers out and is academically eligible and goes to another 4-year institution, then it doesn't hurt...at least I think thats how it was explained in that meeting that one time.

Well it does hurt...but it's very minimal but it does still count against you, it's just not a full point

like i said in the past, i just wish we could keep the same team together for more than a year or two and see what happens. It doesnt seem its' possible with the current coaching staff or the old staff. I dont know but I really dont see how were not significantly worse next year. Kyle is the only proven scorer returning and I think he will suffer without defenses keying on Anthony and Seth. Could be the rebuilding year that we expected this year

Jinx...trust me man, it's going to be alright. I promise you. Jesse is a year older, Kyle will be a Sr and we have some sick recruits coming in...we'll STILL be older next year then we were this year.

And you're right...this has happened under RD and RM...but it truly happens in over half of the teams in every conference...you dont see it at the high majors as much but it happens.

We're underestimating Jeremy Anderson. Yeah, he'll probably never be an all conference guy, but he is something we sincerely missed this year.

Minaya has proved he could score, so has Jeremy Anderson. Jesse has proven he can score when needed. That's four scorers.
