Im not going to comment on whether we are better with or without BJ Jenkins...I will say that we are getting into Xs and Os in Coaching class and one thing Dr Cohu talks about is finding the right fit for the people you have. With the new guys coming in, my guess is that BJ didnt fit in the puzzle the way RMK wanted. Its sad that it worked out that way because BJ was and still is a very good player.

JA is a great player... love what he can do.

But to imply that he can play multiple positions?

BJ would out assist and out rebound JA by 2 or 3 times every game, and has the potential to score just as much.

I'm done arguing this tho, lol. Some of you guys just don't value BJ the way some of the rest of us do.

I don't know about that. BJ is a very good rebounder for his size but Jesse is a master at getting guys the ball in a scoring situation. BJ doesn't necessarily set people up...we have a lot of those guys already. Jesse's talents are a perfect fit for this team. However, given the chance, I'd take BJ on this team any day of the week and I'd find a role for him.

I will say this though, I miss JA more then I miss BJ this year

i think I miss JA more then BJ too...but probably because every game I see him at the end of the bench and I wish he was in the game...he really could be a big help this year...

I hadn't really thought about BJ until this thread...but he was a good player and I was disappointed to see him go, but I am not sure how he would work into the equation this year...but he would do nothing but help I am sure...

JA fits better on this team, but i would say BJ is a way better player. You might get mad at me for saying this but I would honestly take BJ over Kyle anyday. Kyle is a great player, i just think BJ is better.

I dont think ANYONE on this board or who follows LU basketball closely will EVER get mad at someone for saying they rather have SOMEONE much less BJ over Kyle!

And you would be wrong!

Look at BJ's productivity last year, and then look at Kyle's this year. There is no comparison. They play a different position though, and the more valid comparison would be with Jesse or Seth.

Kyle takes way too much abuse on this board.

Jeremy would have been a huge help in a game like Saturday's at VMI. He would have made them change their defensive strategy. Leave him open the way they did our other guys, and he would drop the treys all night, like layups. He scored 20 on them last year, and he could have scored 30+ against that defense. If they had changed back to the strategy they used earlier this year, Seth and Smitty would have had better looks. We miss Jeremy big time. While we will miss Smitty next year of course, that team will have more shooters who cannot be ignored with Minaya, Jeremy, Carter and Lee.

I have no problem with that. He's not my favorite player, but I think he has a lot of game, and this year's team would not have won 20 games without him for sure.

Jeremy would have been a big help to this year's team...I'm pretty sure that he can play D and rebound a lot better than you guys might think, he was never completely healthy last year so we never really got to see much of his game besides his ridiculously good 3-point shooting.

I agree completely. I've said many times that some of these games we lost (the close ones, not the blowouts) would've been wins had we had Jeremy (or even BJ at times). Both add another dimension and guys that know they can score.

Hearing RM talk about JA last year, he always seemed to mention how good of a defender JA is. We all know about his shooting, which his percentage should rise considering the number of 3 point threats we have on the floor, but his defense is also very good.

P.S.

JA runs like a ROBOT.

Jeremy's by far the smartest basketball guy on the team. Even this year while he's on the bench, he knows the scouting reports better than any other player.

Never said anything about Jesse here.

Proto said that Jeremy Anderson plays multiple positions and is therefore a better option than BJ would have been.

Yes, Proto said that. I love JA, think he's a great shooter and a good perimeter defender... but that's his position. Proto seemed to imply he was more than a guard.

I agree. I really like Jeremy and I am glad he will be back next year :D
(unless, of course, he gets hurt again)

I would take BJ over anybody on this team but Seth, Kyle, and Smitty. I'm not saying at a certain posistion just as an overall player
