Basically you caught lightning in a bottle with Gregg Marshall and you won last year with 3 of Marshall's players that never lost a big south tournament conference game. Anyone who has ever coached at this level or played at the division 1 level will tell you that there are no guarantees of winning. The NCAA is very competitive and to expect to just dominate year after year is just not reasonable. There are probably 5-8 programs that are in that category in terms of winning their league every year. I don't think WU is that good this year and Randy has his work cut out for him if they want to get back to the top of the big south. I don't see how anyone thinks WU is better than Liberty this season having seen both teams.
Scar, I think you know basketball better than most on here but the LU kool-aid runs thick through you too. You claimed in the Larry Blair years that LU could compete against WU and they were not even close.
This isn't the late 80's early 90's anymore. I challenge you look up and see if anyone has won more regular seasons or conference tourneys in this decade than WU has in their respective leagues. I bet you won't find more than 3-4, if that. WU is one of those programs that consistently dominates, with the exception of a 5th or 6th year cycle where they sustain injuries and have turnover. You actually just made my point for me by citing 5-8 programs.
WU has a program vastly superior to anyone in the league. One year of injuries and inexperience isn't going change things in the long run.
And if you think LU is on the rise and WU is going down, why did we win the first meeting?
Like I said, you better win now if you can. The window in this league only opens very rarely for another team to step through and win. Then it closes very fast.
