The reality is we have average BSC talent and had an average year. In fact we may have overacheived at the end of the year. CSU was more athletic and a little more talented than us - They're 19-11 for a reason and should have beat us. My hat goes off to DL an the guys who worked their butts off to get a 5 seed given the circumstances with injuries and defections and the talent level to work with. Like I said in a previous post our future is very bright just be patient.

How long must we be patient?

Remember the flood of Jucos coming in? All of the eggs are in the basket for the next 2 years.

Yeah we definitely won't be able to use the "lack of experience" excuse next year with 2 Seniors, 6 Juniors, and 2 Redshirt-Sophomores.

Can't help myself on this one... Re: praying.

I've done a lot of coaching over the years (not saying I was any good) but I always prayed that we would play to the best of our abilities, and handle ourselves properly during the game.

I figured if the other team could beat our best, then they deserved to win, and if God would allow us/enable us to play our best, then I could ask for no more than that.

If I had to guess, it was because Assinesi had no shot speed wise of keeping up with Harper and Nimley. Those two are just ridiculously fast. If I was trying to guard Nimley, that little up fake, jab step move would give me nightmares. It's almost impossible to guard, especially if Nimley is hitting 3s like he was last night.

When we were on the verge of taking the program to another the infamous AD steps in and sets us back. Please don't defend the level of performance here. JB needs to wear this one. It was his political positioning to hire his people and we are no where close to the same level. DL is responsible for his teams but JB set the program back. No change and I am confident we would have one or two more NCAA bids and a serious home court advantage. Instead we have to argue as the seven dwarfs defend their snow white.

Ha

After re-reading what TC was saying I see he means hire...I thought he was referring to there being a connection to JB in the past or something and so he brought him in.

The only thing carrying on is the mediocrity of JB and PH laughable defense of the performance. If we were going to turn cartwheels over an AD who takes credit for the LU building expansion then give the job to Charles Spence. :woohoo

Yes because nobody else on this board has EVER been critical of JB. Get over yourself.

Seriously we act like the commanding officer for Air Force is not responsible for his men. JB is the architect of this. Five years of crazy budgets and we have gone backwards period. Keep finding excuses. Some crush an LU lifer who was 2,1,2,8,3 and celebrate the 4,3,6,2,5. :dontgetit

is is over the athletic dept and as a whole athletics is doing ok. JB isn't perfect but really the person you should be upset with is JFjr for not firing him. If JB is such a problem shouldn't the man running the University do something about it?? Or maybe Jr realizes that things are pretty good overall.

yes the MBB's program is not doing well, but where we finish in conference means nothing. What means something is winning in the post season and aside from a fluke championship RD's track record wasn't much better.

I am sick of losing in the 1st round. I am sick of inconsistency. RD was just as inconsistent as the teams are today and there is no way you can honestly say it was improving. Players would've transferred out like they always do and we would be stuck with 1st round exists. Until we figure out how to keep players around we won't be able to have any kind of sustained success.

That is a problem that runs deeper then an AD.

Don't get me wrong I was more then happy when we won that championship. It was by far my favorite memory during my college experience, but then the inconsistency continued. Much like it has today...

Maybe fluke championship wasn't the best way to put it...

I thought BJ was locked in for Dopey of the Seven Dwarfs but you are making a run for it. The program was on the climb...community was returning from Hankinson debacle. Sure the one point lost to a better VMI team than is playing for Championship tomorrow was disappointing. Shame on you for classifying a BSC regular season and tournament Championship as a fluke. That line of thought has put us where we are. Athletics are fine if you like being 2nd in BSC to SBU in football and 4,3,6,2,5 with no championship appearances even in MBB.

That's fine for me, and I appreciate you clafiying it. We've all got our opinions, and, in the end, this is what this board is .... an opinion board for fans...

I would like to add that Layer put together a great 2nd half, and could have made some legitimate noise in the tourney. He didn't (they didn't) but it was still a great 2nd half....
