Wearing your "home" uniform in someone else's gym isn't exactly an advantage- 1 game at home is good, but otherwise you're still on the road..

After Gardner Webb kept Charleston Southern to 50 points on Thursday I was intrigued as to how they would do against Coastal Carolina. They are are well as CCU leads the bulldogs at halftime 27-25. Gardner Webb has figured out how to smother these high octane offenses. Looks like it will be a street fight till the end.

The reign will end at some point. The league is far more competitive now than when purple face was coaching.

If you have not been score watching you may want to start. Gardner Webb is up 47-42 with 7:47 left in the game.

The beach chickens win 58-55.

G-W play-by-play guy is pretty good, but boy, is he a world-class homer! G-W is "we" and CCU is "they". Not some of thetime, EVERY time!

Electric atmosphere this evening, our guys played incredible defense throughout, mainly a 2-3 matchup zone, but CCU went on a 7-1 spurt to end the game and win. The last shot was blocked, but wasn't a really good look to begin with. We failed on two boxouts and missed three wide open looks within the last two minutes. Bummer.

I like the progress Holtmann is making, with 5 of the last 7 conference games at home, we'll definitely have a say as to the seeding in the tourney. Whether we can get out of the 8 spot remains to be seen. I'll be interested to see how we fare at VMI and at your place next week.

From the Coastal board:
This is two games in a row that the OPPS have axed the power on our postgame show! But PLEASE, every game COASTAL is the Arch-enemy... Its been that way since the inception of the Big South Conference! Russ Bergman dominated them, which hatched their hatred, Gary Gilmore has held the Mortgage on every baseball stadium in the BSC for over a decade, Alan Connie has more CC & Track Championships than anyone ALIVE, Shawn Dockery is the only soccer coach in the entire conference that antone has EVER heard of, we have more PGA professionals that ALL of the other BSC schools combined, David Bennett has dominated from the outset of our football existence and now Cliff Ellis stands at the pay window of EVERY game VS. EVERY team in the league!!! Coastal IS the Gold-Standard in the BSC and a win over them in ANY sport is cause for a Campus-wide party... Which is why its GREAT to be a Chant!!!!

I was going through that post and two things stick out that I would correct if I could remember my password for the Coastal board...

In track...has he never heard of Brant Tolsma? or Josh McDougal (four time BSC champion in XC)? or Sam Chelanga?

In football...David Bennett...the same David Bennett who they wanted to run on the first train out of Myrtle Beach? Not to mention the fact that LU has beaten CCU in the last what...three All-Sport Trophies? Not exactly a gold standard if I do say so myself...

Who has more of those Sasser Cups? IDK I'm just asking, I know it's always between CCU & LU.

Also interesting how CCU and LU both leading men's b-ball standings, both teams have 2 starters each that have transferred in.

Gray & Holloway
Brown & Minaya

Experience wins. And regardless of what happens the rest of year, LU will be preseason #1 next year.

My point is that if they took off that poster took off his teal colored glasses he'd see that the Big South Universe itsnt all CCU all the time and that nobody has come close to them in almost every sport...

I dislike Winthrop more than Coastal. For a Coastal fan, to be starry eyed about the BId South Gold Standard is a little understandable, though a little delusional. Then you have folks like Realist, who think that Winthrop is a notch above everyone else... not understandable and thoroughly delusional.

Man, I wish Winthrop had a football team.
