Theyve come close, but never quite gotten over the hump. Theyve made what...4 appearances in the championship game in the last 10 years or so?

Not to mention...the placement really isn't a surprise to me. We were one of the worst teams in the conference last year and we are going into this year with a new coach and a VERY young unproven roster, so I don't get all the woe and doom and gloom from youngflamer

Who cares? If you see a team and think they're the best, then vote that way. Simply voting based on whose won a BSC tournament is stupid. Remember that year when we were the worst team in the conference and won the tournament? These conference tournaments aren't indicative of whose the best team in each conference.

Also, BJ and I agree on something. We may not end the season last in the conference but we are very deserving of being ranked last to start the season.

These polls are usually pretty simple...if a team has done well in prior years and returns key players, they will get voted high. HPU, despite their failings in the conference tournament, has finished in 1st (or tied for 1st) in the regular season each of the last three years and is the only team that has somebody on their roster that made 1st or 2nd team all-conference last year (John Brown).

I know this season is going to be a huge work in progress but I am excited to watch the growing process. That is something we can at least expect as the season goes on. A RM coached team will improve as the year goes.

If we become a replica of UVA, offense is where we will struggle....every year.

Second half Liberty won by 3 so we won overall but our guys was not happy and felt they should have beat team by 20. They said it seems they ran out of gas in second half. The coaches said our problem was not scoring but we needed to raise the intensity in our defense. They worked on that this week and will scrimmage American Univ. at home today. I'll let you know I it goes.

Since these scrimmages are scored as 2 separate halves, lets just say we went 1-1 against the Keydets. Could be that Flamerz source saw the scoreboard at the end of the second half and thought it was the score for the entire scrimmage. Although VMI is going through a transition following the Dugger era, they do have 6 of their top 7 scorers returning, including QJ Peterson who averaged almost 20 PPG last year and is picked to be first team all SoCon this year. Talk about a ¨mid-sized¨ roster....... they have 6 players who are 6´6 and nobody taller.

Ehhh... Yea (the close one) i was referring to the 2nd half slash end result.... Oh well Dawson didnt play so we weren't at full strength anyway. Hopefully the team hovers around .500 till he gets in the rotation.

Interesting that the VMI poster says their players thought they ¨ran out of gas¨ in the second half. Possibly an indication that our new S&C coach Henry Barrera is paying dividends. Barrera could be the best hire we made this year. He is a world class S&C guy who also coached multiple HS state championship basketball teams in Oregon. We need any edge we can get at this point, and being even a little bit better conditioned than our opponents could help us steal a win or 2 we might not get otherwise.
