I didn't get to follow the game tonight because I had class, but WEF told me Liberty made it exciting. Sounded like your guys never gave up (which is always a good thing).

Good luck next season. I'd love for you to come in second behind Winthrop. (I'm sure you understand).

Reference RU game where he knocked down 5 jump shots in the first half, 2 of which were 3's. He can nail it down. From the baseline wasn't ideal though.
From Lang's piece in the N&A:
The Flames ran a double screen to get Patrick Konan open on the baseline, but Konan’s 16-footer was a touch long. Jones nabbed the rebound, and the Eagles hit free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

“That’s a shot that Patrick works on every day,” Sanders said. “I’ll take that shot. I’ll take it again.”

Great game. Experience next year helps us win that game.

The game went about how I expected. WU controlled the game, we never gave up and had a chance to win it the last couple of minutes.

WU shot 39% from 3. On the year they averaged 25%. If they keep shooting like that they will be cutting down the nets on Saturday. Their shooting far outweighed the 3 keys to the game (limiting TOs, limiting points off TOs, and limiting 2nd chance points). We beat them in all 3 of those categories. So, we executed the game plan perfectly – WU just knocked down their shots. That was the difference in the game.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more said of Jesse. I think the passing of the torch in team leader happened last night with Kyle to Jesse. He played amazing. He was continually beating his man to the basket scoring and/or getting fouled. He was taking the shots at the end of both halves with time winding down. He took the jump shots with confidence. If he continues to work on his jump shooting over the summer he should average 12-15 a game next season.

I think you'll see Jesse balance out next season. He shot (probably) over his head at 51% in his freshman year but he's not as bad a shooter as his 44% this season would tell you.

I don't think he'll ever be more than an 8-10 ppg type guy because Jesse makes it a point to get other guys involved. I think if anything, you'll see his assist numbers rise a bit with JVP and JC running next to him.

His 25 last night were a direct result of the way Winthrop defended Gordon and Ohman. The Eagles were content to let Sanders and Anderson try to beat them.

Anderson had a bad night, but he's not a bad shooter, as some posited earlier in this thread. And I like that he kept shooting away. Shows some confidence in his ability. They were good looks, and several spun in and out.
