I'm sure he could, but my understanding is we're moving away from going after a RB this class. I was told if we get a RB it would likely be a JUCO.

Nope. It's the old "Bear Bryant Rule". Any scholarship athlete in any sport who also plays football counts against the football scholarship limit.

I kinda-sorta figured when HF decided to move Frank Boyd back to RB that there was a good chance we don't sign one this year. Actually, I think I may have said something about it at the time. We will have 5 RBs returning, which in HF's system is enough.

I dont see the next “dude” is the problem. I think next year were fine with pickett and mack but lots of question marks behind them. Henderson looks like a nice 3rd down back with receiving skills. Boyd showed ok and no clue on sibley.

Guess we can easily add a juco next year but if mack were to go down i dont see another back that can run and catch at a high level.

Moyer is one that should have committed early but he mightve gotten recruited over too.

Laying the ground work to sign at least one stud RB in 2021, which will be the first class where HF and staff will have been able to have those 2 year relationships with HS recruits he always talks about. With Mack and Pickett graduating, they will be able to sell the opportunity to play a lot, or even start, immediately.

Not quite a "hit piece", but pretty negative. Personally, I don't think the problem is the number of offers made. It's more about both parties being honest and transparent. Using an offer just to get a player in your camp is neither. Announcing a commitment when you really haven't decided is just as bad. I like the advice of the IMG coach:

"At IMG, Wright educates his players about the scholarship offer process. He tells them to ask the offering coach three questions: 1) Is it committable now? 2) How many guys have you offered at my position? 3) Where am I in the ranking of them? “You always ask, ‘Can I commit right now?’” Wright says. “If the answer is no, it’s like a Like on social media—they just like you.”

Not sure if I remember it exactly, but HF has stated something to the effect that if it were up to him, he would like to be able to make an offer to a player and get a commitment and a signed NLI all on the same day. He also said he doubts we will ever see it.

Perhaps more realistic is an idea which apparently is being considered to make all scholarship offers both commitable and time-limited. The player would have 30 days to commit, and if he does, the school is obligated to sign him. If he doesn't, the slate is clean. The school could offer again, but would have no real or perceived obligation to do so, because the player knew he had 30 days and chose not to commit. I think that has some real merit.

I keep seeing on 247 that we are 100% to get Adrian Spellman who is a three star DE from Elizabeth City, NC. He has offers from us, App St., Duke, ECU, Navy and ODU. Rated as the 51st best weak-side DE in the nation.

Manson, do you have any information on his recruitment?

Think we've backed off.

It seems so. He didn't have any superior offers to ours. Hugh Freeze seems to have really underestimated Liberty's recruiting power, which is a good thing!

Agreed, it has been really exciting to hear coach freeze explicitly say "we could've been a little more selective with our offers." McKay has said this, Turner Gill and now Coach Freeze that Liberty sells itself once you get people on campus and with the great recruiters on this coaching staff it will just make LU more easy to sell.

I have a feeling we are going to turn some heads over the next two months with how we finish up this class.

I think the situation with OL recruiting was simply the fact that although we need to sign 6 or 7, it just wasn't going to work out to have 6 true FR. We needed to make room to sign a couple of JUCO players who would be more likely to be able to contribute right away. Hopefully they work out better than last years JUCO OL, who a lot of us thought would be Lozano's replacement at LT, but has yet to appear on the 2 deep at any position.

Seems the most recent offers seem to be focusing on linebacker, defensive line, and lately, a couple tight ends. I think Liberty could use a stud tight end, as they do not seem to have much speed or talent at the position currently, unless I am missing something

Some of the lack of Tight End production is the play calling and Buckshot's lack of check down throws. Buck has done better this year and it shows with more catches from our tight ends. The other lack of production even this year comes with the simple fact that this is a brand new offensive scheme. I think it will come but I do think too grabbing another TE will be a boost for our team. Jacob Kainer would be a nice pick up from the JUCO ranks. He is the teammate of one of our other prospects at Tyler JC in Demetri Jordan.

tight end as a receiver is a luxury, must have a very good o line to spare a tight end with a 1 back set which LU does most of the time. It will happen in time but mainly on set calls and not par of RPO normal sequence ( until dominate o line gives u that luxury ) I know HF values them and will certainly try to incorporate them. I could see TE focus being a big part of BYU and UVA focus due to corner back match ups on AGG i.e several plays based on zone vs man where TE is 2nd read not 4th or 5th
