More from Coach:
That's the team I expected to see around here
A little sloppy at the end
Zach has a wrist or thumb, or both
(Wes Cheek and Derek Bishop will have xrays tomorrow)

The crowd count was legit. I was pleasantly shocked...as I figured we'd be lucky to have 9500 there....but the 13.8 was awesome. Sea of red over on the student side...and the band seemed more into it. As far as the team...they definitely looked like they had a chip on their shoulder and played with more intensity than the other two home games.

really a MORE dominating performance than the stats indicate- if you can imagine that.

just that we had a couple quick strike TDs and a defensive TD, so the numbers aren't that high.

really, a good job tonite- winning a game they definitely HAD to win.

As was pointed out in the wrap-up; the BSOUTH is the prize we must shoot for at this point.

Coach feels we can compete at Toledo, but after the performances in the last 2 roadies- its anyone's guess WHICH Flames team shows up. Winning big at home against a St Francis is great, but we need to perform better when faced with adversity.

Hopefully, the guys gained confidence in themselves and each other after a strong performance tonite. Easily the best game of the year- hoping it carries over to next week.

this is the brock that I can tell you played in high school. I think we need confidence in one qb, he was very supportive of Spencer, but next week I think we need to just use Brock.

A little concerned that we STILL seem soft in cover 2, esp over the middle.

you don't think Toledo is review game film and may exploit that, do you? 8)

Anyway- sounded like a great game by Redd, Childress and O'Donnell. Also heard Greiser and Torrence's names called often. Pretty much the entire defensive unit stepped up.

The linebackers played well, the D-line got good pressure and penetration into the backfield- basically screwing up the Red Flash all nite long.

Brock was evidently consistent- apart from what was reportedly a horribly thrown pick- wasn't there, didn't see it.

To be fair- he had good protection from an O-line that had their way all night long.

Spencer played well too, and what more can you say about #s 3 and 7?

This was a morale victory. I agree with PAmedic completely. We did what we SHOULD HAVE done tonight. Other than that, it's hard to say if we're improved or not. The coaches certainly dug deeper into the playbook. The snap to ZT, the reverse with Wynton at the start of the game, etc. That was nice. Outside of that, St. Francis just wasn't enough of a challenge to really gauge the Flames. The defense looked good, but St. Francis couldn't really complete a pass anyway. The offense looked good, but they had plenty of breathing room and our running game was obviously working.

So, who knows what this means, if anything? Hopefully the team got a morale boost not only from the blowout win, but from the show of fan support tonight. Even with the two road losses, the fans in Lynchburg are solidly behind this team. I hope they realize that after tonight.

Agreed- seems like Danny had the same thought- the most impressive thing all night was the 13900 butts in the seats cheering on a 2-2 team.

what a change!

They start a new thread every week. Just start a new one with today's date in it.

nah- too much work.

BJ has one in old-man sized print that's been updated as of late this afternoon- I'll let someone else go in and fix it.

BTW- somehow Chuck South scored 15 points in 4 minutes and is now up 39-33 with 5 to play :?

methinks the score hadn't been updated in a while.

overall- nice to see/hear- but I'm thinking its forgotten by Tuesday AM as Coach and the boys prepare for the Rockets, who are 1-4 after losing to Western Michigan 42-28 today.

on that note- I'm going to bed.

No Wynton looked like he caught it and then 33 ripped it out of his hands. Honestly I thought fumble but thats me.

Actually took the game off and watched it with my 2 oldest. We had a great time and the Crowd was much larger than I expected. Much louder too. What's with the Yello Hummer Dudes?
Anyway for the competition we played well. Wynton continues to impress. Zach and Rashad looked good, but I could have hit those holes. I hope zach and Cheek are OK.
We'll have to step it up a notch next week. Great night out and good performance. I saw JB with a big smile. :)

Sidenote: I got to the game pretty late (for me, anyway) tonight because the wife and kiddo decided to come along at the last minute. We parked down by the ice center and there were a few tailgates going on down there. Not a bad spot at all.

Sidenote 2: Anyone see the torch on the monogram tonight? How big is it? Hopefully we'll have 5 or 6 good reasons to light it in the next couple of months.

Sounds like a great showing from our team. You know the game is out of hand when Champ is getting carries.

Oh, and Chris Rocco is looking great on defense, I gotta say. I think he should play some offense, too. But that's just me, I'm a bit biased.

THis was the best I could do but maybe you can get an idea of where the 2nd flame was placed. It was right next to the LU on the mountain......it was so cool to see it light up everytime we scored!!

Oh, and as for Brock's "Pick"

It wasn't a pick.

It should have been a fumble.

Either way, not Brock's fault. He threw it a little bit behind his man, but it was complete, or should have been.
