Alright, so, I'm from King, NC, 15-20 minutes from Wake Forest and 15-20 minutes from Winston-Salem State. I went to Coastal last semester, I go to Liberty now. I pull for both schools. Coastal plays at Winston Salem State on September 30th, and Liberty plays Wake on September 30th. The Coastal game is at 6pm, but we have no clue what time the Liberty game is. Is it possible that I'm going to get to see both teams play in person in the same day? That would be flat out awesome.

You'll probably have to wait awhile. Wake is probably going to wait set their gametime on the outside shot they get picked up for television.

I'd almost be tempted to do a half and half game if they're both at night. Most Wake games are 12:30 games so I should be able to get tickets for that game, chill out for a while, go over to Bowman Gray (where WSSU plays) and tailgate with Coastal and go to that game.

Good to see Coastal stepping up and playing some GREAT competition. Winston-Salem State? Is this a High School Team?

PROTO w/ a shot across the bow!

Obviously you missed the remarkable quote in the other thread stating that CCU athletics were "second to none"- which is the main reason they are ostensibly a lock for the vaunted SoCon.

The only thing Coastal has going for them is that their located at the beach. If they were located in Central South Carolina - the only conference that would look at them would be the the local High School Conference.

The conferences don't want them, because they will improve the talent level - they want them because it means that the teams in the conference would get to go to the beach during their seasons. You ever been to Lynchburg? Some very historical landmarks here:)

I wouldn't want to move in the SoCon anyway - Colonial?

I'm not really sure what you're getting at. WSSU is pretty much playing a typical MEAC schedule...Not sure how Coastal doesn't fit in that given that Coastal and other Big South schools play MEAC schools all the time.

I'm really not getting at anything - other than not missing a chance to rag on CCU and Winthrop at every opportunity:)

I'm just noting that there schedule historically is one of the easiest in the Big South.

Are you defending them? I didn't think Winthrop was big enough to have a football team

Shouldn't you guys be concentrating on getting a game plan together on how to beat CCU in Basketball?

Saying CCU and historically is pretty much and oxymoron since they have been around what like 4 years? Of course they are going to play a crap schedule. While i love to rag on them as well, you can't really base anything historically when a team hasn't been around very long.

but thats why it caught my eye to read the opinion that their athletic program is second to none and they've "obviously" outgrown the BSOUTH. This is all based on a track record of less than 5 years?

To be fair, I can't really debate the stats because I'm not very familiar with their program or facilities- I just found the position being taken over there to be interesting.

when LU started its program we played crappy teams too. how else do you build a team. each year coastal has upgraded their schedule, and im sure this year is their strongest to date

heavily laden with SoCon teams, it seems a move in on the way. they do have a very nice stadium, probably top in the big south IMHO. but to say that coastal has such a rich tradition is crazy. they are a model for schools starting football programs, and i applaud the way they have done it, but do not get crazy just yet coastal fans, you may need to stay in the big south awhile longer...you have not arrived yet!!!

Truthfully, if we have any other viable option I have no interest in the SoCon. Now the CAA is a completely different story.

Coastal's football stadium is awesome for a 3 year program and is easily expandable. The only bad thing is as of now you can't play 3:30 games because of the sun.

They just got a $300,000 donation towards the field house from two alumni.

The new arena just hit a snag but within the next couple years there should be a new state of the art 6000 seat arena.

Baseball just upgraded a little with new lights and things like that.

The soccer stadium is pretty night and secluded. It's a good place to watch soccer games.

The softball field doesn't have too many seats but it's in a good location with people being able to bring lawn chairs and stuff like that.

Other than no field house/weight room and the gym, Coastal has some very nice facilities with not nearly the amount of money that other schools have.
